This week I've arranged the playlist in alphabetical order. I will argue with those of you who think that The xx shouldn't be filed under "X" but will probably lose because I have not known tiredness like this since about yesterday. As such, the descriptions of the tracks may be a bit more pithy than usual. And more blunt. And possibly honest. Enjoy. Click here to listen to it.

1. Bigg Jus - 'I Triceratops'

Some hip-hop. As part of our Beats Week. Robert Ferguson chose this record as one of his favourites over the past decade. Read that here.

2. Black Mountain - 'Evil Ways'

New Black Mountain record reviewed here. I would be happily surprised if it contained anything as good as this track on it.

3. Deftones - 'Diamond Eyes'

Speaking of which, Deftones set the bar pretty high early on in their career, though this isn't a bad attempt, if falling slightly short. They confirmed a UK tour this week.

4. The Diplomats - 'Iva's Groove'

Another entry for Beats Week. You can read Robert Fedderson's wonderful piece on Dipset/The Diplomats here. It really is very good.

5. El Guincho - 'Frutas Del Caney'

A couple of El Guincho bites this week, the first of which was that the new record, Pop Negro, was available to stream. The second was that the very same record had been given a track-by-track run-down.

6. Fever Ray - 'If I Had A Heart' (Fuck Buttons Remix)

So, Fuck Buttons deservedly won our Neptune Prize. Well done to them. Unfortunately none of their music is on Spotify, but we did manage to track down a Fever Ray track they remixed. That's this one, by the way.

7. Gold Panda - 'Win-san Western'

The definition of "pleasant surprise" - finding out that Gold Panda released his record early. The definition of "fucking brilliant", the record itself - Lucky Shiner.

8. Hurts - 'Devotion' (ft. Kylie Minogue)

HURTS? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Lord. Read the review of their predominantly bad record here.

9. Interpol - 'Slow Hands'

This seems as good an Interpol track as any to put on, although I'm now having second thoughts about including them at all. New album reviewed here.

10. MF DOOM - 'Hoe Cakes'

Best line ever: "MF DOOM he like DB Cooper / out with the moolah". OK, maybe not, but it's better than "taught her how to bust a nut and the heat to turn beef to horsemeat chalupa" which also occurs in this track. Or is it? Download a live performance of 'Hey!' here.

11. Muse - 'Supermassive Black Hole'

Muse have always been slightly baffling. Obvious at the same time as being very un-obvious. Click here to read Wendy Roby's review of their show at Lancashire County Cricket Club. On a more serious note, why are they playing there during the season. This should really not be allowed.

12. Röyksopp - 'Remind Me'

Why do Röyksopp go with the "o" with an umlaut rather than, y'know, the one they usually use in Norwegian with a line through it. Whatever that letter's called. Aesthetically it's a bit...worse. Ah well. Plenty of stuff happening around the duo but we ran one of their tracks to download. Here it is.

13. The xx - 'Infinity'

Do you think this lot are old enough to have heard of Chris Isaak, let alone ever heard a single note of 'Wicked Game'. If not then this has all gone over my head. I am certain I am not the first person ever to point this out but still, why write a song when it's already been written. They won the Mercury Prize this week. Well done to them, though, the rest of the album is quite good.
