The most wonderful girl-guitar/pop-noise band around today, Vivian Girls, have just announced a spate of dates on this very island for the New Year. Following on from the release of their second LP Everything Goes Wrong, they'll be playing the following dates and places:
January:
14 - Brighton, Freebutt
15 - Oxford, Jericho Tavern
16 - Birmingham, Academy 3
17 - Manchester, Deaf Institute
18 - Liverpool, Korova
20 - Glasgow, Captains Rest
21 - Newcastle, The Cluny
22 - Leeds, Brudenell Social Club
23 - Norwich, Arts Centre
24 - Southampton, Joiners Arms
26 - London, Hoxton Bar and Grill
A fair spread of dates indeed. When on form, they are a fine force live, being all three-part harmony and distorted guitars, pleasing to the easy to the max. In the meantime, watch one of their recent music videos for 'When I'm Gone', courtesy of Pitchfork, and think about seeing them in the confines of the Deaf Institute, Jericho Tavern, or the Brud'.
