The Great Escape 2012 - DiS' Festival Highlights
In this review of the festival, we've not tried to cover everything (there were well over 300 acts, after all). Instead, what you'll find below is DiS' editor's picks of the weekend (that's me writing this intro, hello!), but first, DiS' David Edwards who trekked down from Manchester shares his picks of the weekend...»

Five Must-See Bands at Camden Crawl 2012 + Spotify playlist
This weekend, the annual Camden Crawl festival takes place in Camden Town, North London. There are over 250 acts playing the festival, which is pretty darn overwhelming, so we've handpicked five you should do your best to catch... oh, and don't forget DiS will be hosting The Black Cap on Sunday night, with our editor (and possibly some special guests) DJing into the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.»
Drowned In Manchester #10 – Festival Preview Spotify Special
There’s a reason this column has become more sporadic in 2012, and it’s not due to a lack of things going on in Manchester. Far from it. In fact it feels like the rush of the musical tide flowing through this city is such that I’m sitting meekly at »

Trans Musicales 2011: The DiS Preview
So then, later this week, while you’re tucked up in bed, starting threads about seminal powerviolence records or whatever you do at 3am on a Thursday morning, it is worth considering DiS, who will be embarking upon a bleary-eyed pilgrimage to England’s capital, via Megabus. Yes! Fortunately, the second leg of this journey reaches literally aircraft hanger-sized proportions, encompassing the Channel Tunnel, eventual arrival at Trans Musicales’ big aircraft hanger venue, and some sort of guest reception where, I am assured, there awaits a hearty combination of wine, warm hospitality and fancy local cheese. Huzzah!»

Fourche à Foin: DiS en Pitchfork Music Festival, Paris
Walking into Grande Halle de la Villette - past a gigantic neon Pitchfork Music Festival sign which over-looks a courtyard with a big impressive fountain - first impressions are over-awing. Pitchfork haven’t got some tiny theatre turned into a music venue but a huge enormo-barn, purpose-built for music... or possibly for housing a family of blue whales. As the lights dim, what looks like 5,000 people are gazing at the stage...»
Iceland Airwaves 2011 - The DiS review
There is just something about Iceland. In reality it is not one single thing but a combination of them, from the people, the weather, the city of Reykjavík and, above all, all of these distilled in a few days in the middle of October that make up the annual Airwaves festival. Although 2011's edition was marked by several performances of Björk's Biophilia at the resplendelty and long-awaited Harpa Music Hall, it's quite arguably not what Airwaves is about. That said, every festival is helped by a "marquee" performance or two and Sinead O'Connor made an appearance, too.»
