Cake have finished their fourth full-length album, their first since signing to Columbia Records from Capricorn.
The new album, titled 'Comfort Eagle' which is slated for a late summer release, is their first since 1998's million-selling 'Prolonging the Magic'. Cake self-produced the new album at Paradise Studios in their native Sacramento.
Just as Cake welcomed a new member, guitarist Xan McCurdy, drummer Todd Roper has left the band saying he wanted to spend more time with his family. A Cake spokesperson says the band will soon begin looking for a replacement.
Meanwhile, ex-Cake guitarist Greg Brown is having a great time himself. His new band, Deathray (who also have Victor Damiani in their ranks), are themselves hard at work on the follow-up to last year's debut album.
