Muse: Nescafe Use Bellamy Soundalike To Dupe Public

Rock kings vs Major Corporation.. the saga continues..

It turns out the song that sounds just like Muse's cover of Nina Simone's 'Feeling Good' on the current Nestlé advert is not Muse. Well, it was Muse for the first few weeks, but it no longer is Muse. The version you now hear is by Eon John, and has been arranged by Peter Lawlor at Watermusic.

In respose to our recent news story we recieved a statement from McCann-Erickson on behalf of Nestlé UK, from a spokesperson who told us:

"Warner Music have authorised the use of the track for the current advertisement and an agreement has been reached for the remainder of the advertising campaign."

Because the song was not originally written by Muse, Nestlé are legally within their rights to re-record it if the publisher (who owns the rights to the original song) gives permission.

Legal action is currently taking place.

In more positive news.. Muse are currently in LA mixing their album with Rich Costey. Tour dates are expected to be announced shortly.

Nice work on getting this one first (seems that Taste still aren't telling the Muse-Official webmaster anything), dont think all th ekiddy muse fans barraging Nescafe will do them any favours though - not many of them can construct a paragraph these days, never mind a well written letter....

You tried getting in contact with Tom anyway? He usually knows more about whats actually going on with the band than Dennis does sometimes, and he seems to be more akin to having a "slip of the tounge" should we say...

I mean, I know *some* things I can't stick online just yet because they're unconfirmed and the Muse-Official webmaster helps out with the admin side of DIY, so like... he'd get in the shit. I doubt you'd have that problem....

i think its great that more people are doing more sites like dis. it ups the ante and strengthens the grass roots movement.

there's loadsa stuff we can't report, for many reasons, but some of it slips online ocassionally..

What got removed from the article and why? Just curious. Obviously you can't repeat it exactly, but what was the nature of the deleted stuff? I read the article earlier before it was changed, but can't remember what else was in it - I remember it was a lot longer though!
