American Nightmare Give up the Name
DiSvsMatt by Mat Hocking March 17th, 2003
Cult hardcore heroes American Nightmare have finally settled on a new name almost a year after they were served with a cease and desist order by a Philadelphian band with the same name - as reported here. Many rumours have been circulating since then regarding the new name with many believing them to have settled on the similar moniker of American Nothing.

However, the band have today issued the following statement clarifying that from now on they will be referred to as Give Up The Ghost:

"This is sorta weird for us. 350 days ago we were served with a "cease and desist" to change our name, by a band based out of Philadelphia who objected to our use of their name and US trademark. Today we are doing that. Give Up The Ghost.
Much like most things we do some will love it and some will hate it, but the real issue at hand is that we the band like it. We feel it fits perfectly. We are well aware that many wont like the name. What we want to express to everyone, is that this is simply a legal issue. If there was something could have been done, we would have done it. Trust us, we tried everything. But after a year of being hung out to dry and having many write us off, we are back on our feet and that is the most important thing.
In that time off we have recorded our new full length and single, and as soon as we get the okay to talk labels and release dates we will do so. We will also be explaining some of the misfortunes we have had over the last year on the Bridge Nine band journal page. As far as shows go, you can expect to see a lot of us in the coming months. We will be back touring the world starting in April. Our tour dates are as such and we hope to see you there. We are extremely thankful for our close friends sticking by us, and helping us through this hell. Thanks-Tim, Wes, Brian, Josh & Alex."

If you like your hardcore loud, fast and vicious then DiS strongly recommends you catch them at one of the following dates:

April:

Sat 12 Camber Sands UK Kerrang! Weekender w/ Glassjaw, The Hellacopters

Thu 1 - Swindon UK The Furnace w/ XcanaanX and Sworn In
