Spotifriday #99 featuring Rufus Wainwright, Prince, Biffy Clyro, Weezer...
sean by Sean Adams July 15th, 2011

At the end of every week, DiS makes a playlist using Spotify of what we've been loving and/or writing about this week. This is the 99th week we've done this, so hopefully you know the drill by now. If you're American and only just got Spotify, welcome!. This week's Spotifriday playlist is here and links to content is amongst the below.

Rufus Wainwright 'The Art Teacher'
This week, DiS featured a series of House of Rufus related content, ranging from an interview with Rufus, in which everything from opera to Gaga was discussed, to some family photos, two exclusive tracks and some words about the 19-disc boxset from the man himself. You'll find all of that here: http://drownedinsound.com/lists/rufus-wainwright-week.

Sufjan Stevens 'Jacksonville'
Sufty had a new video, which he directed himself. Not everyone loved it tho.

Prince 'Little Red Corvette'
As if we really need an excuse to feature the greatest artist of all time (IMHO!!), this week we ran this review of his performance at Hop Farm.

Washed Out 'Eyes Be Closed'
Their new record soars above and beyond the chillhaze wave-wavers, and William Grant liked the record so much that it ended up in our Recommended Records section.

When Saints Go Machine 'Kelly'
One of the most intriguing albums of the year so far. Fans of The Knife, Hercules & the Love Affair and that sort of fare, should, like, totally ch-che-ch-check it out. Or at the very least read this review.

The War On Drugs 'Baby Missiles'
Alert! Alert! SINGLE OF THE WEEK!.

The Horrors 'I Can See Through You'
It's out. It's gonna most probably be in the top 5 albums in the UK album chart this week. Here is out review.

Biffy Clyro 'Glitter And Trauma'
Biffy fans might not wanna read Dom Gourlay's review of Sonisphere but you might quite like our photos of the festival.

Weezer 'Trainwrecks'
There's a shot of Rivers looking like a dude amongst the photos too. This week, Weezer announced details of their cruise. Yes, like, a festival on a ship. Toot! Toot!

Givers 'Up Up Up'
This little ditty may rub some of you cheesy indie-pop hook-haters up the wrong way but some of you may love it - especially if you spent last year obsessed with Freelance Whales. This single is out this week and was in Wendy's round-up.

Blonde Redhead 'The Dress'
DiS-favourites this week revealed details of their new remix EP.

iLiKETRAiNS 'Terra Nova'
Had a single in our singles column too. Did you manage to get hold of their tea yet? It is truly delightful.

Elbow 'newborn'
And finally, speaking of extra curricular activities and band 'swag', this week those lovely chaps from Elbow launched their own ale.

And with that, be gone with you and listen to the playlist by bashing your mouse here and we'll see you next week for our special HUNDREDTH EDITION of Spotifriday.
