Remember waaaaaaaaaaay back in October last year, we told you about Eels brand new Long Player, which goes by the name of End Times. Well, that's out in the very immediate future (January 18 - less than a week!) and to somewhat celebrate this fact, we're giving away a free mp3 track from that very album.
The particular piece of work we're giving away is called 'Little Bird' (a popular choice of song name, no doubt) and is available to stream or download via that embedded SoundCloud widget. As I've said MANY a time before, just click that little fugging arrow and then it's izzy wizzy let's get busy time.
End Times comes out next week and here's the tracklisting:
- The Beginning
- Gone Man
- In My Younger Days
- Mansions of Los Feliz
- A Line in the Dirt
- End Times
- Apple Trees
- Paradise Blues
- Nowadays
- Unhinged
- High and Lonesome
- I Need a Mother
- Little Bird
- On My Feet
SO THEN? Do you like it? Do you think it's trash? Hold out much for the album? Does it sound familiar to ANOTHER Eels song?

Lovely. hoping for more from End Times, was a bit
disappointed with Hombre Lobo. Still, the guy's a legend. As for it sounding like another eels song, he could release a album of Nolan Sisters covers and it would sound like the eels. Amazing.
I hope it's better than Hombre Lobo
because that was E's worst album ever. There was a while when Eels were my favourite band but although that's no longer true, I still have a soft spot for him.
Eels doesn't have a 'worst album'
because he hasn't made a bad one to date.
And Hombre Lobo was great. Not Blinking Lights or Electroshock Blues great, but still great.
It sounds so much like things he's done before
but when the things he's done before are so beautiful, it's hard to quibble.
As the man says.
Hombre Lobo is really good. 'The look you give that guy' is lovely, and tremendous dynamite ROCKS.
Never really got into Blinking Lights or shootenanny though.
shootenanny is up there with his best
hombre lobo is good, with 2 or 3 very very good songs, but also 1 or 2 not so good songs.
the album where the quality dropped for me was : souljacker, the 2nd side of that album is weak.
i've listened to "End times" - it's not an album that tries to come in the front door and impress you. I like it, but I suspect nobody will see it as his finest.
