DrownedinSound is delighted to announce details of a one-off Sheffield event. It's on Thursday February 21 at Bungalows and Bears on Devonshire Street, is free and kicks off at 8pm. It's being held in association with Vanity Project, a night curated by Ralph Razor of Razor Stiletto fame. Drowned In Vanity, anyone?
The attractions are thus: Miss Nat Johnson, frontwoman with the recently hiatus-ised Monkey Swallows The Universe, will be making one of her first solo appearances, armed with an acoustic guitar and a clutch of new tunes. DiS has heard them, they're good.
If that wasn't enough, DiS DJs (hi!) will be on the decks all night, serving up a delectable selection of aural pleasures for your feet to shuffle to. Expect to hear anything from Beefheart to Black Kids, Foals to Band Of Horses... and all manner of other stuff. There'll probably be some Pulp, too, and possibly 2 Unlimited if DiS snapper Gary Wolstenholme gets anywhere near the wheels of steel. That or hideous metal. It's up to you, Sheffield DiSsers, to ensure that doesn't happen. By any means necessary. Pints are £1.95 with a B&B regular's card (ask at the bar on weekdays, they're free), so perhaps buy him one of those to keep him busy...
Oh, and remember Mario Kart? Street Fighter? We do too, and we like them a lot. That's why there'll be a SNES set up, with said games, for you to pit your digital wits against each other. There will be fantastic prizes for the winners, and some crappy ones for the losers. It's the taking part that counts, see? We're too good to you lot, we really are.
