Help to Save Glastonbury
oappleby by Ollie Appleby December 11th, 2001
The latest Glastonbury news is that the license hearing is pencilled in for the 3rd week of January. With the hope that the council's and police concerns can be addressed.

www.efestivals.co.uk have set up a pro-Glastonbury Festival petition, saying: "It's a scandal though really, isn't it? One of Britain's greatest events has to go through this, and has to fight alone. Surely the government should be supporting things with a view to making it happen? It wouldn't even cost them any money."

With the aim of enlisting that support from the government, they aim to "make a noise in (Minister for Culture) Tessa Jowell's inbox!"

The idea is to let them know the strength of feeling, and move them to act in support of the Festival. An event of this stature deserves the support of central govt - there shouldn't be the license panics that are suffered each year. It may not make any difference for 2002, but anything that can be done to help in the long term is surely worth it! so Sign the petition now.
