Wichita Recording's Mark Bowen posted a message on the Super Furry Animals' Yahoo! group saying:
"Martin was asked to do those Manics shows but unfortunately word that he was doing them got out before he had ever responded.
Brave Captain had already decided there would be no more gigs this year including a planned appearance at Reading. Martin starts recording his next album in July and will be in the studio for a couple of months so he wasn't going to be available to do shows in August.
Also as most of you know BC has been playing with the mighty Derrero as his band which was only ever going to be a temporary thing around the last album while he sorted a permanent lineup. As it happened the shows went so well that the band ended up doing a couple of tours this way but now Derrrero are going back to their own career as planned and Martin will reemerge with a new band around the release of the new album next year.
Now if we can just talk him out of calling it 'The Mighty Reds - A Glorious Treble' we'll be all set."
