Canadians Arcade Fire have announced details of their first UK gigs since September 2005.
The band, who said here that they wouldn't play any live shows 'til the new album was completed, are set to spend five nights in London as January becomes February.
Labels are reportedly fighting over the release rights to Funeral's follow-up as we speak; so we'd better not waste any more time announcing the dates:
January
29 London St John's Church
30 London St John's Church
31 London St John's Church
February
1 London Porchester Hall
2 London Porchester Hall
Tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow morning (8 December). You can get them here.

nor me
:(
me either.
whats the better gig?
if you get..
ticketmaster on the phone whilst you have ticketweb on your mobile (sellotaped to the other ear) and seetickets on your online browser then perhaps you'll stand a chance
Why can't tomorrow morning...
be now?
tension
i'm going on holiday at 2 am
And can only go to the shows on the 29th, 30th and 2nd. But really only on the 2nd.
Someone get me a ticket?
Wow
way to give everyone else in the country a chance to see them live.
superb news
hopefully i can get the first 2 nights of the tour, that and 3 nights of bloc party afterwards will be ace
where are these places?
and don't for the love of I am say London, and which one is better?
i have no idea
how I'm going to get tickets for this, since I'm going to be working tomorrow and the friend I'm going with isn't sure if he can book tickets either. And it's probably pretty rude to ask someone who's not going to book tickets for you :(
...
The first venue appears to be around Westminster, whilst Porchester Hall is up the road from Batswater station.

No idea about which is better etc though
damn
I mean Bayswater station
everyone else?
erm, londons far away froma lot of people!
Sarcasm, dear
That's my point exactly.
Some people will want to see them (like me) but can't because ALL of the gigs are in fucking London.
It's really annoying.
London only gigs
do piss me off royally. I can understand it for one-off gigs, and that sort of thing.
But they're playing 5 dates, why not move them around the country?
Almost as bad is when a band announces a 'tour' that involves something like 5 London dates, and a token one elsewhere (usually Manchester, or somewhere just as far away, in my experience)
Oh
god im dense sometimes :(
almost as bad?
surely this is worse?
i think i'll wait for the full tour
rather than get stressed.
Mmmm
Lovely fade out effect on the Porchester Hall website there.
i've already seen them
it was amazing. but i can wait until they tour again.
Chill
5 nights in london, i would do it. I would like to say i played 5 nights in MSG or Paris as well, know what im saying?
I'll try
But such a slim chance of getting them and also although a 'VERY intimate gig' as said by their website would be awesome, and expreiencing the new album before it comes out in an intimate location, esp in a church as the album has been made in a modified church, would be good maybe id want to hear the album first? Ah well, they say their announcing gigs in the next few weeks bound to be big ones in London and maybe Brighton so prob best to go for that.
huh.
pffffft, arcade fire. what i really want to know is, when are we getting this super duper special ryan adams feature then? eh? eh?
...as you were.
and
none on Friday or Saturday which makes it even more difficult for someone outside of london to attend
09:05
All gone.
Anyone with spares?
I managed to get two for me
Can't get anymore - all gone.
My secret, don't use IE as a browser, I got straight through using firefox
EXCELLENT
No tickets for me...
*sulks*
How do they sell out so fast? They'd all gone in two minutes. Who can even fill out their details that quickly? Pah.
Yay for Ticketmaster
They sold me mine for Friday at 8.57am!!
I fucking got some!!!!!!
Jumping around excitedly!
My advice is always use Stargreen!
That was
Absurd.
There's no way they are popular enough to sell out five london dates in 4 minutes.
They were only announced yesterday for Gods sake.
how the fuck...
...do these tickets sell out in about 1 fucking minute. so pissed off. even stargreen didn't have any. arrrrgrghhgrgrgrgh.
5 dates...
But surely very small venues?
Anyone any idea? 500 each?
I got as far
as clicking on the confirm order button on both ticketmaster and stargreen (using different cards) and BOTH fucking popped up with a message saying "your order cannot be processed" or whatever. I want to break something. And then cry.

The blow
has been softened by purchasing tickets for explosions in the sky, march 1st at koko.....mmmmmmmmm
this was at about
8:59am by the way. GGRRRRRRR!!!!
Smaller than 500
i imagine. More like 2or300.
It's all about the press route now. That better work.
And anyway, funeral's so not as good as it was.
Gah
Whilst i'm happy for you that you got a ticket, no wonder they sold out so quickly if they started selling them before the published start time.
I'm pretty gutted about missing out. I did see them in 2005 though and it was one of the best shows i've been to in recent years so you guys with tickets are in for a treat.
Ah, so they definitely did sell them early?
I likewise got ones for Thursday a minute or so before 9am. Normally I'd sit there, with the mouse hovering over the link and wait for the BT-synchronised big hand to tick over to 12, but am glad curiosity got the better of me this time. Almost had time to get another date... Almost...
Dinner Dance or a Reception?
Dinner Dance Capacity is 400
Reception is 630
Only 300 for Examinations?!?!
http://www.porchesterhall.co.uk/facilities.htm
Looks stunning though!
I've not done...
...the whole wake up early and be poised with the mouse on the minute of release for a very long time. I so very much wanted to go to one of these. Gutted.
ebay? ££££££££
Scarlet Mist? Chance would be a fine thing!
exams
haha yeah, i had exams in Porchester Hall last summer.. now we get to see AF there!!! go team!!!
it's all a bit random venue wise... they could have JUST used Bush Hall or something!
I had exams there over the years too..
UCL student?
Yeah
I used Firefox and got 2 for the Friday one at 9.01. Ridiculous how fast they went though.
Tried to get tickets for Porchester Hall :-(
Well, my boyfriend did. Sold out in a couple of minutes apparantly. That's a bit annoying.
Laika!
I am so happy, I got two for the tuesday!! Que much punching of the air. I love Firefox and broadband. Just looked on ebay and they are going for £160 per pair now. Ridiculous. For yous complaining they are in London, you obviously don't deserve to get the tickets. I'm travelling from Nottingham to see them.
is nice...
I got some (well one), maybe 3 though...
proably just one...
for Porchester Hall on the Friday...
:D
got 3 tickets
2 on my girlfriend's card and one on mine. not entirely sure how to be honest - some manner of fluke. can't wait though. the king's college gig is possibly the best gig i've ever been too.
on a different note though, something needs to be done about the c**ts on ebay selling theirs for massive profit.
Cock
I'm pissed off i was about to purchase 2 tickets on ticketmaster had the postage sorted out but i realised one was standing one was seated, so i tried to change stupidly and got screwed. So wish id bought them now, even if me and my friend were seperated would have been class, or i coulda been a bastard and sold them on eBay. Boo hiss. Better get tickets for their actual tour, or there'll be blood to pay, most likely Butler blood.
eeeeeeek
I managed to get 2 for Monday (at about 9.20 - Ticketmaster kept telling me they were unavailable but I tried again and lo and behold they appeared - yay!) but I had told 3 friends I would try and sort us all out. Now I'm hugely excited about going - but gutted that I now have to somehow decide who gets to come with me....
What's that you say?
Touts are utter leech-like cunts? £200 quid a pair?
They sure are, dad. They sure are.
Sitting?
Is that the St John's gig with seating? Glad I went for the other venue then - mostly on impulse of going somewhere different. Would've hated being presented with that conundrum.
How do we know
if our tickets for St Johns are seated?
My brother bought mine, and the order confirmations says:
'Seat location: section TICKET'
I'm worried now...should still be amazing though
its all seated
its a like a church and stuff, it has pews that don't move.
:(
That sounds like it's going to be ace...
Though I should probably be content with the one for Porchester...
Some people missed out:(
More bands
Should play in churches. Bands of a certain ilk of course like Dresden Dolls, Explosions In The Sky or 65daysofstatic and the like. In my mind the gigs are amazing and people write reviews with phrases such as 'kneeling at the altar of <insert band here>' and the dates aren't just in London and the tickets are sold based on a system of secretly watching people listen to the band and seeing who looks like they enjoy them the most.
i saw
paris motel and mystery jets in churches. both were ace!
i don't mind so much about being seated for arcade fire actually, it's kind of nice. for the mystery jets i danced in my seat.
ARSE!
missed out.
It really fucking annoys me
when bands do this.
