Latitude 2013 confirms Kraftwerk, Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party + Spotify playlist

News by Sean Adams

Once again they've delivered an incredible list of names, featuring legends like Kraftwerk (in 3D?!) to DiS favourites including Cat Power, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals, Bloc Party, Efterklang, CocoRosie, Villagers, Mum, Japandroids, Maccabees, Everything Everything, Modest Mouse and Hot Chip. They've also got the makers of some of 2013's recommended DiS albums, such as Daughter, Wave Machines and Hookworms. Then there's the likes of Dylan Moran, Germaine Greer, and spoken word sets from Thurston Moore and Tracey Thorn?! And so much more.»

DiS at Latitude 2012: Live from the Cabin, inc. Yeasayer, dEUS, Sharon Van Etten

News by Wendy Roby

This year, DiS was an official media partner at Latitude Festival. What this meant, is that we got a portakabin in back of the Lake Stage, and spent all weekend luring bands to it with the promise of a bacon and cheese toasties, a game of RISK, or an opportunity to learn How To Speak Suffolk Proper. Fun was had. Inappropriate jokes were told by Josh T Pearson. Haribo marriages were proposed to Sharon Van Etten. Here's Part One of our highlights.»

Latitude 2012: The Editor's Reviewgasm

In Depth by Sean Adams

There's this wuhwuh-woah (M83), a woooo-OOoooo-ooooo-ooooh! (Yeasayer...or FUCKYEAH!-sayer as they will henceforth be known), and an ODB-inspired crowd going urrr urrrRRRrre uuhrrrrrrrr (Chilly Gonzales), swirling around inside my head. That's not to mention the whirl of actual words from Sharon Van Etten's 'Leonard' which are still swaying in and out of my consciousness. That's the soundtrack, and twirling around in the cinema tent in my mind is all these arms aloft making heartshapes (through Metronomy's set) and triangles (during Alt-J) and a sea of young pale hands, tapping morse-code patterns while pointing as pixels, trying to pop the beats, as plumes of sound zoom over head (at pretty much at every show with synths). »

DiS' 15 Must See Acts at Latitude 2012: #14 Walls

News by Sean Adams

It is just two weeks until Latitude Festival kicks off! This is the second of our 15 selected acts that we think you should catch...Alessio Natalizia (aka Banjo or Freakout) and Sam Willis (of Allez-Allez), are the duo known as Walls. Last year, they released their second album, Coracle. It's a record brimming with swooshing hazy electronica, but their music is so much more than a few lame descriptors ('hypnotic washes of sound' anyone?)»

DiS' 15 Must-See Bands at Latitude 2012: #15 Perfume Genius

News by Sean Adams

Let the countdown commence... it is just two weeks until Latitude Festival kicks off! This is the first of our 15 selected acts that we think you should catch... Mike Hadreas (aka Perfume Genius) seems to live in another place and time. It's a world somewhat more melancholic than the one most of us live in, and it's a land where everyone drifts between tears and sleep. Hadreas sends telegrams from this place by occasionally crawling to his piano to pen another sad song or a bittersweet pop dittie.... »
