Devo to feature in 100th episode of Futurama
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater June 7th, 2010
and Gary Wolstenholme

We're surely now accustomed to some of our favourite bands appearing in some of Matt Groening's animated TV shows. It's not surprising - the man has exceptional taste, as demonstrated by the two ATP Festivals he's curated in the past few years.

It may not then come as a great surprise to learn that Devo are to appear in Futurama, specifically in the 100th episode of the show, which returns to screens at the end of this month after a prolonged break (via Spinner). This is really good news on both counts, I'm sure you'll agree.

According to Spinner, the episode will have Devo as mutants, fighting for the rights of said mutants, in a sort-of-like-the-X-Men-way-but-probably-not-really-that-much-alike-only-in-principle way. Mark Mothersbaugh - who himself is no stranger to being associated with cartoon shows - will lead this fight, apparently. Well, who else, Bob Casale?!

Devo themselves return with a new record, Something For Everybody, their ninth in total and their first in a whole 20 years. I know. Talk about a weight of expectation. Still, we're sure it'll be just fine. That comes out on June 14, a week today. The band follow in the footsteps of various other musicians to have played themselves in the show including Beck and The Beastie Boys (see/listen below).
