Listen: Download Wonderswan - 'Maple Syrup'
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater May 17th, 2010

I know we do go on about Leeds being very near the top of the crop in 'currently brilliant musical cities' but only because it's true. That's where quartet Wonderswan hail from. They're releasing a cassette tape EP (old style) entitled I Wish I Was Deep Instead of Just Macho on May 24, which is a week today. We've got a track from it for you to download, track 2 from side A - 'Maple Syrup'. It is short and, just like the golden goodness contained in the title, quite sweet too. Scuzzy guitar-pop success.

Download or stream it below:

Wonderswan - Maple Syrup by LukeSlater

The EP is a true bedroom recording. Or lounge, kitchen, or whatever room they could find space in. It has the following tracks on it:

Side A):
Fear The Sea Waves
Maple Syrup
The Sunburn Death Cult
Super Star Destroyer

Side B):
A Stitch in Space-Time
Double R
Friends For Life (part 1)
Toronto Gosh

If you want to buy it you can do so from Sea Owl records, also based in Leeds. Click here or here for the Sea Owl websites. No pre-order at present, but you'll be able to purchase it from the release date. There is also a video for 'Super Star Destroyer', which you can have a peek at down there:
