This is a record with something of an identity crisis.
Folky, americana to begin with, then a Beck-inspired brass section, all topped off with the occasional falsetto opera warblings that make it a real effort to listen to.
With production credits going to the The Strokes' producer Gordon Raphael, it's easy to see how a potentially quaint and charming little song has been glossed and super-slicked into a tacky, airbrushed 38GG of a tune.
