You've heard the reviews already from the Super Furry Animals forthcoming LP 'Rings Around The World' their fifth in total and the follow-up to the biggest selling album sang in Welsh. Or you maybe haven't read the reviews. But you surely must know that this band is physically incapable of making a duff record. No change here then as Gruff and the boys have come up with possibly their best single to date. Better in fact than 'Ice Hockey Hair' and 'Northern Lights' which were both magnificant pop songs.
'Juxtapozed With U' begins with the vocoder-style verse over the dreamy melodic strings which only the Super Furry's can carry off and actually sound good. So summery its untrue and its one of those songs which you will undoubtedly find yourself singing along to it as if you've heard it a million times before, its that catchy. Although the track itself could easily fit onto 'Guerilla' and not look out of place, this is a band who know when to move on and change their direction yet remain and keep that unique sound they possess. Although the chorus is undeniabley upbeat, the lyrics suggest a more tender, affectionate tone to Gruff's vocals, "You've got to tolerate all the people that you hate/I'm not in love with you, but I won't hold that against you".
So Wales' best band (it should be made official shouldn't it?) have once again come up with the goods which must make them the most consistant band of the last 5 years, critically anyway. This song suggests they will achieve their biggest hit so far which will pave way for the 'Rings Around The World' and you might wanna buy that y'know.
