Fractured, fucked, funky, fatalistic, formidable and flourishing electronica from two blokes hailing from Scotland. Following up their unanimously acclaimed debut album “Music has the right to children”. They take the Aphex Twin aesthetic of head-fucking ambience to a much more subtle environment. Mixing enticing, hypnotic beats, subdued looped samples with Labradford style ambient soundscapes. It etches a laid back, fluid beautiful world but still retaining the mandatory ability to cause aneurysms to those on acid with discordant restive melodies alone.
With no more Richard D James (allegedly), the underground electronic scene needs new figure-heads. Autechre being far to anal, Plaid to painful and Mira Calix just plain odd, it seems the Boards are going to lead the way.
Better find £100 and watch them twiddle some knobs at Camber Sands, just avoid all that muso-wank that consists the rest of the line-up.
Its better than Kid A too!
