Seems like there's been a trillion & one of these punk compilations churned out over the years. But, I gotta say 'Spirit of The Streets' is a darn good insight into the street punk bands that've formed the soundtrack to many a punx picnic over the years. 'Ard punk granddaddies like The Business, Warzone & Agnostic Front unite with promising upstarts like the awesome Dropkick Murphys & Anti Flag to shout anthems of unity, revolution & all those things that punk's supposed to have stood for over the years.
George Marshall from street punk mag Pulped tries to sum up the 'Spirit of The Streets' on the inside quite well but I guess if you're unfamiliar w/ this whole sub-culture then it'd probably seem a bit silly. After all, why hitchhike to somewhere like Spain just to see a band -like the guy I gave a lift back from Agnostic Front the other week did recently? Hey?
Obviously there's a few bands missing such as Cockney Rejects & GBH but this is just 1 disc and when you've got Rancid, Swingin' Utters, SOIA, US Bombs & 59 Times The Pain amongst the 20 bands here to yobbishly sing-a-long to whilst sipping on a can of scrumpy in the park well, who's complaining?
