the shamanistic, all female band warpaint release their stunning and everything we hoped for debut album, 'the fool' on rough trade. the album was recorded in los angeles and produced by tom biller (beck, karen o, liars), with added mixes from andrew weatherall (new order, primal scream, bjork) and adam samuels (john frusciante, daniel lanois). this is the first recording since their fantastic 2009 'exquisite corpse' ep. warpaint weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals and driving post punk rhythms into gorgeous, sparwling songs that skirt the line between psychedelia and intimacy. both live and on record, warpaint sound like they're channelling something truly otherworldly, mystical. 'the fool' is their utterly mesmeric debut full-length album on rough trade records.

warpaint - The Fool
The Fool is a retro guitar record that often sounds like it was assembled by a spectacularly talented committee.»
