Franz Ferdinand feature in Britain’s most sexually explicit mainstream film, ever.
The chart favourites join BRMC, Super Furry Animals and Dandy Warhols on Nine Songs, which is directed by Michael Winterbottom, previously behind 24 Hour Party People. Clips of the bands playing are intercut with the unsimulated sex scenes, which feature fellatio, cunnilingus and ejaculation. It’s a first for British cinema.
It’s a love story concerning a young London based couple. that received its premier at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday. Guardian film writer Derek Malcolm said: “Nine Songs looks like a porn movie, but feels like a love story. The sex is used as a metaphor for the rest of couple’s relationship. And it is shot with Winterbottom’s customary sensitivity.”
Winterbottom told The Guardian: “Books deal explicitly with sex as they do with any other subject. Cinema has been extremely conservative and prudish. I wanted to go to the opposite extreme and show the relationship only through sex. Part of the point of making the film was to say, ‘What’s wrong with showing sex?’”

I respect any director who can produce a sex scene.
And they getting my undying love if they produce it well - which seems to be the case here.
Sex scene are incredibly difficult. Where is the line? How do you capture the intimacy of the moment, or the passion of the moment, whilst still respecting the actors and the viewers? How do you do your job without looking like a perverted voyeur?
It's a tough call. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result.

It is difficult shooting a sex scene. If this is a love story, will the actors concerned be able to convey the love in a decent manner or will it come over as being somewhat staged and sterile?

I remember one time having Soundgarden's single Pretty Noose one repeat for what seemed like ages... although, not wanting to sound like a titan in the sack, it probably only went round three times. The thing about sex in films is that even if it's simulated, it's still pretty darn embarrassing when you're watching it in a cinema with other people....its okay ina book because you're reading it privately.

to save them the money, they can borrow my copy of Baise Moi if they ask nicely. I've found that really explicit sex scenes in 'mainstream' films get really boring if you watch them more than once. you might as well just by a skinflick and forget about a story.
mind you, if this guys manages to pull off (ooh err) a realistic, sexually explicit love scene, rather than the usual "shocking" explicit sex i.e. Baise Moi or The Idiots, i'd be impressed.

Music elevates the experince if you ask me but you got to put on sex music, some errotic techno, or some Luther Vandross, let the woman chose, there is a hole style of music called porn grove, its all about pleasing her, once you have acomplished that she will please you in ways you didnt even know you could be pleased, enjoy mates

anyways, why is fiom groundbreaking and any other decent porn movie is not? In other words if they were to show a decent pornt movie in mainstream theatres would you also consider it "groundbreaking"? The so called "Directors", pseudo-intellectual marginals (he-he-he) can not coming with anything original, and the only thing can do is stick dildos up their asses to impress the audience. This is the same as fricking nasty Hollywood for Euro-trash.

I rented this film not so long ago, it is absolute shite. naturally i assumed sex and good music would make an excellent film. how wrong i was. the sex is boring, there is little if any dialogue and the music seems out of place. There appears to be no plot and the character are completely throwaway with nothing interesting about them. this film was a waste of my money and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
