Mos Def: An Out-of-Work Actor From Guildford
shadyadie by [redacted] January 29th, 2004
Somewhat oddly, hip hopper Mos Def is set to play Ford Prefect in the movie version of 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. He was recently in 'The Italian Job' and has appeared in a bunch of other crap. The character of Ford is that of an intergalactic reporter for the Guide, who disguises himself on Earth as an out-of-work actor from Guildford.

Also in the main cast are - hooray! - Martin Freeman ('The Office', 'Love Actually'), who plays Arthur Dent, and Zooey Deschanel ('Almost Famous', 'Elf'), who will be Trillian. Jim Henson's Creature shop have been designing the Vogons and the suite for Marvin the paranoid android. As previously reported on DiS, Garth Jennings of innovative music video directors Hammer & Tongs is set to direct, with Disney as the cash cows. An official announcement with the full cast will by made by the producers soon.

This is either going to totally rock or totally suck. Filming starts in April in Elstree Studios.
