Timbaland To Work With Coldplay?
- Artists:

Maverick hip hop producer Timbaland has grown tired of the genre that he's done so much for, and has gone on record as saying that the only band he wants to work with is... wait for it... Coldplay!
The super-sized knob-twiddler, best known for his work with Missy Elliott, told a popular music television channel: "Hip hop is the same ol', same ol'. I can do a beat and keep doing it, but it's not the same. The only musician I'd like to do a song with is Coldplay. That's the only one I really want to work with now."
Exactly how such a collaboration would work is a little mystifying - Coldplay are hardly ones to think outside of the box at the best of times. The two parties have already met however, although nothing has been finalised as yet. Maybe Timbaland's sweet on Gwyneth? Or maybe he thought they were actually dropping science on 'The Scientist'? Whatever; the mind, it boggles.

Respect for that comment.
You can just see it now.. rich boy Chris Martin rapping... "oh jolly good what what, all this blimey, I already have the good spangling money, I've got it, I'm a rich limey"

Re: Claps....
Yeah, you're right. No one should make money from music. Especially not a band who worked from the ground up and bring happiness to loads of people.
The whole super-elitist indie ethic on this site is really beginning to fuck me off.
Just because Coldplay are signed to a major and make a lot of stuff that doesn't excite you (or generally me) doesn't mean they deserved all this shit they get from everyone. They were just lucky.
You'd give your right arm to be where they are.
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

Re: Claps....
I didn't even say that. Chris Martin has ALWAYS been a little rich kid... he comes from a wealthy family.... The point I'm making is that they're pathetically boring and uncreative and I know of bands who should be up there higher than them........ they weren't 'lucky'... they just wrote music that most people go 'aw thats nice isnt it...all soft an stuff', whilst other bands who really are pushing the boundaries and being incredibly inventive are pushed back. I'd like to bring Unbelievable Truth to the table if I will, as well as the wonder of Elbow and Small Victories... all pushed/pushing stuff a little bit further fowards and all very very creative.
I wouldn't give my right arm to be a monotonous band on a major who play music that's soft enough so everyone likes it, but not inventive enough so that it's actually very interesting thanks.

yoyoyo speaks!
So how does being well off have anything to do with your music?
Ubelievable Truth? Thom Yorke's brother right? I think you might be on shaky ground levelling accusations about little rich kids there...
And anyway, what was so revolutionary about UT? They were just as adept to writing pretty acoustic songs as Coldplay.
Why does music have to be 'interesting'? Can't you like a song for what it is? Snide indie jealousy may work for you round these parts but it doesn't mean you're any more right to like those reallyreallyinterestingandexperimental bands like um... Elbow...

Newt Gingrich loves origami
Unbelievable Truth were fucking awful in every single way. They weren't just as adapt as Coldplay at writing pretty acoustic ditties, they were fucking awful moaning bullshit who were only ever good at the Truck Festival in dear little Steventon because they had some beer inside of them and didn't act like nature's last remaining tall-stemmed poppy facing the combine harvester of life. The only thing they pushed was my tolerance and subsequent regret at buying the Higher Than Reason EP.
There's nothing wrong with being popular y'know. If simple pop is that easy to do and that the world is a gullible fool, then get out there and write a hit. Quit the shitty day job, one or two songs should keep you funded for a year. It's incredibly difficult to write something simple that does touch people (as Coldplay clearly have done). A Coldplay song is recognisable through Martin's vocals, something that you don't get with a lot of the current rock crowd. There's countless fantasy films yet the simplicity of the Wizard of Oz still wins through. There's room for simple touching stuff and imaginative stuff too.
