Brandon Flowers on new Killers record: "...one of the best of the past 20 years"

Y'see, there's blowing one's own trumpet, and then there's this. One can only assume The Killers' Brandon Flowers prefers to purse his lips against a Harold Bishop-style tuba...
The singer (pictured) has told NME that his band's forthcoming second album is one of the finest records of the last 20 years.
The weekly music 'paper quotes him thusly:
"We just have to make the best album that we can. And we're doing it. This album is one of the best albums (of) the past 20 years.
"There's nothing that touches this album. And that sounds like I'm being cocky, but I'm just so excited."
Cocky, no. Being a complete c*nt totally out of touch with the possibilities of music and its development over the past 20 years? Probably.
Flowers told the 'paper that he'd recently fallen in love with the work of Bruce Springsteen. Born To Run was, of course, released in 1975, so I guess he's saying The Killers' new album won't top that. Tunnel Of Love, though... ergh.

Tunnel Of Love is probably the most underrated Bruce album. it is amazing.

That's exactly what he should say! Not only does rock star bravado demand that sort of cocky swagger, but presumably he should believe his own bullshit...else why bother?
Of course, if the album is anything above mediocre I'd be surprised as all hell...cos the Killers are the epitome of mediocre...but this sort of statement is straight outta Rock Stars for Dummies handbook. If he's lucky in ten years VH1 will do a "Where are they now?" but for the time being he's making the most of his 15 minutes. Hopefully he's got a good financial planner cos by my watch the Killers time is almost over.

Actually no, us fans love him for just that kind of thing. He's confident in his work and he's not afraid to say it. There is nothing wrong with that. It's just like saying "my child is the most beautiful child in the world". The album is after all, his 'baby'. So get of his back, let him say whatever he wants, no one is going to force you to sit down and listen to it if you don't want to.
Oh and that was just a snippet from the full quote which was actually:

God! u cant blame a person for speaking his mind can u? Brandon is a very outspoken person and he says what he feels, besides he worked hard on this album and if he wants to be cocky bout it, let him. btw, he said 'one of the best', not 'THE best' so just shove it!!
