Rebirth to the Pixies

Following recent speculation, it seems to have been confirmed that the Pixies will reform and play a world tour in April 2004.
According to MTV, the line-up will comprise the original four members, Frank Black, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal and David Lovering. The band originally split acrimoniously in '93, but it seems they're definitely on speaking terms now - the band's spokesman even hinted at a possible new album.

Can't help thinking this is a kind of double edge sword. On the one hand bloody hell! They're back together!, but on the other I imagine there's still bad blood between Francis (he'll always be Black Francis to me, even though both Joey and Dave referred to him as Charles in that C4 Pixies doc last year) and Kim and there's been a few too many of those half-arsed cash-in reformations in recent years.

Enh. The pure joy of hearing a night's worth of Pixies songs performed by the Pixies outweighs any cynical analysis my inner indie kid is making. I mean, fuck. The Pixies. touring. playing. I'm amazed.
