Get behind me, rumours...

Jack White - he of The White Stripes fame, now finding similar critical acclaim with The Raconteurs - has doused the rumour flames rather by stating that The White Stripes are not to split. To be honest, we hadn't heard anything along the lines that they were.

Anyway, White told a 'paper by the common name of The Evening Echo the following:

"I'm having a slight break from the White Stripes, but not too much. I've already got a lot of songs for our next record, so when I find two minutes to record it, I will."

This information comes to you courtesy of BBC 6Music, who go on to stress that Jack and Meg have quite a workrate once they do hit the studio, having turned out last album Get Behind Me Satan in two weeks.

On The Raconteurs front, the Brendon Benson-featuring four-piece will finally release their debut album, Broken Boy Soldier, on May 15.

Phew

they better not split. I was just having a White Stripes weekend playing through their whole back catalogue in the two days and singing along. I have to catch them on their next tour as I haven't seen them play for ages. Love love love and I'm not ashamed to admit it in the slightest.

Jack said in 2002 something along the lines of we'll slpit after the next album (which turned out to be GBMS)

Two minutes to record the songs?

We can only wish he had lavished such attention on Elephant.

(Just kidding. It's a good album)

oh how i wish they would

elephant was just a rehash of previous works, and GBMS was just crap

its time for them to split

Oh Come On

GBMS was full or wonderful, original music. If you can't appreciate the direction they headed, then where did you want them to go? Their earlier albums were straight up rockin, blues. Then they changed it up to more rockin with a blue hue. With GBMH they went their own direction - they found their own unique voice, and I hope they continue to define that with their new albums.

Did you want them to go more rockin'? Then you should have liked Elephant? Did you want them to go more blues? That's been done and said more times than you can count.

Personally, I admire them and am astonished with each new album. But...beautiful music is determined by one's own ear...
