Bang bang, your debut's a hit: DPT reveal single details

- Dirty Pretty Things »
Mr Barat's post-Libs project Dirty Pretty Things will release their debut single - amazing how a tour can sell out without a release on the shelves, isn't it? - on April 23rd. 'Bang Bang You're Dead' received its first radio play last night on Steve Lamacq's Radio 1 show.
The single will be available on CD and seven-inch, as well as on DVD. The DVD will feature - surprise surprise - video clips. Like, no way.
The band have added an extra show to the aforementioned tour, at Kentish Town Forum on May 24th. In semi-related news, former Lib Pete Doherty's been arrested again, apparently for robbin' a car. Someone, do the right thing: cuddle him and escort him from the premises...

Glastonbury 2009: DiS briefly shuts up, bands have their say
Like i said...
the dirty pretty things represent everything that's bad and wrong with the British music scene...and industry. Obviously they wouldn’t have got signed based upon their demo alone. Just another shit radio friendly bunch of arse that means a quick turn over for the record label, the label is not only gonna be selling records but also a shit idea of what a great band should be, and supposedly a "super group"...hah! Obviously not a band that NEEDS to be heard, and definitely not breaking any new ground artistically, however i expect they will be on the front cover of the NME within the next month if they haven't already done so, but heaven knows why. i enjoyed the God awful performance's at the NME awards, it confirms that the British music scene really has nothing to offer. this is the best thing that the major labels could find in Britain?? Kaiser chiefs, these wankers and <insert 30 odd other bands>. And what the fuck do you call it? it's definitely not punk, and it's not pop...it's just 'matter' musical 'matter' not even musical, just 'matter'...and what is with those stupid guitar solo's that they insist on doing? you know ...the ones that make them sound as though they can't play guitar very well but man it sounds like he's really trying, ooh it's almost punk! nah, the guy's been on tour the past 5 years, if he isn’t a demon on the guitar then he's obviously got hand cancer, there is nothing wrong with being able to play your instrument very well Mr Barat, you don't fool anybody, the dirty pretty things are a manufactured pile of C*nt with as much talent for disguise as a giraffe in dark glasses trying to get into a "Polar Bears Only" golf club.
[guess the end quote]
' a pile of c*nt'
made me laugh HARD.
sozzle
i had a bad morning...some guy at the bakery ordered shit loads of bread..all i wanted was a sandwich, 30 minutes later i read this!
yep
i'm with you there.
ps. although i liked The Libs initially i would really hate to see them reform. Just a thought.
a dvd as their first release?
that is such cashing in already. really bad.
I'd only buy this
if the video clips were a montage of the band laughing at a montage of all of mr doherty's recent press. show some spine you cunts!
haha
yeah, just nothing blut clips of the band sitting on a sofa eating popcorn, laughing OTT at clips of babyshambles and Pete "Dockerty" as the news likes to call him.
.
that sure is a lot of words
errr
"amazing how a tour can sell out without a release on the shelves, isn't it?"
This would be a relevant comment if the band were complete unknowns. You surely can't be surprised or bemused by the fact that Carl Barat's new band sells out a tour?
The reformed Libertines WILL headline the next Glasto
I'm convinced of it.
mainly because they'll have to do something like that to make sure people are still giving a shit in a years time.
the tour sold out in 20 minutes
and then was immediately put up for sale once more on eBay
market forces eh?
I'm rather excited about them kicking off with bang bang you're dead.
and the album. theyre amazing live.
