Incubus: New Skin

After much uncertainty and rumour over the future of Incubus' line-up, an announcement from Brandon Boyd himself has appeared on their official site, confirming the departure of their bassist, Dirk Lance.
Having played loyally with the band for all 12 years of their career thus far, the front man states, "To cut straight to the thick of it, he is no longer in the band. I would love to express to all of you our gratitude towards Dirk." describing his ex-band member as, "a valuable asset to the history of this band."
Although detail of reasons for his departure and news of any replacement are lacking, the future of the band seems safe. "We will and are continuing our pursuit of high art in sound." And just in case Mr. Boyd's torso had slipped the minds of any female fans of late, he adds, "I must also issue you a warning; for the music we are currently composing for the next record will be like melted chocolate on your chests and necks". A clue to the next video, perhaps?
DiScuss: Any ideas why he left? Would Brandon appearing with love handles and a beer belly be more consequential news? Perhaps you think it might just be a publicity stunt?
