Astoria to host gypsy punkers in March

Gypsy punkers Gogol Bordello have done a Broken Social Scene and upgraded their London gig (on March 10th) to the Astoria.
The New York-based outfit, fronted by Eugene Hutz, are currently riding something of a wave of Radio 1 hype, with both Jo Whiley and Chris Moyles singing their praises to the degree where the pair have made a bet with each other as to where the band's new single will chart.
'Sally'/'Start Wearing Purple' is released through Side One Dummy on February 27th. Ms Whiley has apparently betted Mr Moyles no less than a crisp fifty that it'll breach the top ten.
Gogol Bordello are also playing music industry conference South By South West this year, where Hutz will DJ at the Spin magazine party, so don't be too surprised if they find themselves a major label home before the year's out.

The bastards.
ugh,
i really do not see the appeal of this band whatsoever.
whats happened recently
I thought you had to be a fairly established sucessful band to play the astoria know bands come out of nowhere and play it.
i think
having moyles and whiley placing bets about where you'll chart is a pretty massive amount of exposure which will equal success.
ive never heard of them mind
Perceptual Set
I just happened by chance to hear the Lamacq feature on these guys a few weeks ago.
Since then I keep seeing them everywhere I look. Literally.
Perceptual Set all over my face.
Crackin...
Gogol Bordello are awesome, GYPSY PUNKS UNITE!!!
...
Theyre shite. And ive heard the album.
well...
The album is great party music, but a bit tiresome after a while, but these guys are one of the most entertaining live bands I have ever seen. If you have not seen them yet, you must go before every loser in the land starts liking them and they do a Darkness.
Just absolute insanity.
mike davies
kept playing that fucking purple song of theirs on the lock up. I stopped listening to his show after that.
Don't worry about this lot
Go just to see The Fighting Cocks who are supporting, they're GRATE!
