Astoria to host gypsy punkers in March
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver February 9th, 2006

Gypsy punkers Gogol Bordello have done a Broken Social Scene and upgraded their London gig (on March 10th) to the Astoria.

The New York-based outfit, fronted by Eugene Hutz, are currently riding something of a wave of Radio 1 hype, with both Jo Whiley and Chris Moyles singing their praises to the degree where the pair have made a bet with each other as to where the band's new single will chart.

'Sally'/'Start Wearing Purple' is released through Side One Dummy on February 27th. Ms Whiley has apparently betted Mr Moyles no less than a crisp fifty that it'll breach the top ten.

Gogol Bordello are also playing music industry conference South By South West this year, where Hutz will DJ at the Spin magazine party, so don't be too surprised if they find themselves a major label home before the year's out.
