Hate seems a strong response to a band you think are a bit shit? You could just ignore them if it wasn't for the publicity. And if you hate them because you can't just ignore them then it's the publicity you actually hate.

were literally licking their collective arrogent ringpieces today. I fucking really hate The Sun when it talks about music. It' knows abolsutely nothing. It should stick to witch-hunts, tits and football.

There's no other light hearted piece of crap you can read for 15mins that isn't just pure scum. At least the Sun is the voice of the man on the street.

But I'll not buy their album (though I might well buy a similarly good album by someone else) becaus I know that for the next 18 months I will hear the arctic monkeys every 20 minutes and I want to delay the time when I'm totally fed up with hearing them.

the artic monkeys are a great band. good tunes. a little bit different to anythin else but not too weird to alienate everyone. A band that say they don't want to be really popular are well meaning i suppose but probably not akin to being in in the unpaid cold for years struggling, whilst working an awful day-job that almost breaks you in to tiny pieces.

The man on the street was probably Johnny Rotten.

is that Bromhead's Jacket and 1984 are shit. Both far worse than Arctic Monkeys.

Arctic Monkeys - I just love em (But ther are plenty of bands that I like more I must say!)

The Arctic Monkeys footage they showed on TOTP was actually from Jools Holland.
So althugh they were on TOTP they didn't actually perfeorm on the programme.

A few years ago i would have said that a band like the Artic Monkeys were making a mistake by not going on TOTP. The simple fact now, however, is that no one watches TOTP. It's on BBC2 and can't be more than a year away from being axed. In short: does anyone care whther they go on TOTP?

if you neither like the Arctic Monkeys, 1984, or Bromheads Jacket, then could it be because these bands are all from the same area and have (unsurprisingly) taken influence from each other?
i for one am happy for the future of English music to be going in this direction, better than most of the other music out there that sounds the same.
if you DO like these bands, check out Milburn. better than the AM by their own admission!
and dont just say "they're shit!" at least say why you dont like something, that way you dont look quite so immature in your views. this is not intended as an insult, merely as an observation. people will take more note of what you say if they think you worth listening to.
