ATP Weekend 2: Best Line-up EVER?
As another quartet of bands are added to the second weekend, it's just getting better and better...
This year's double-weekended 'United Sounds of ATP' event made us all smile when the first six curators were announced, the likes of The Shins, Sleater-Kinney, Mudhoney and Devendra Banhart choosing the bands for each day and programming a selection of television piped into all the chalets across the site.
The line-up for the second weekend has improved even further today, with the news that Broken Social Scene, Boredoms, The Lilys and the Brian Jonestown Massacre.
The second weekend (May 19th-21st) now shapes up as such:
DINOSAUR JR Dead Meadow, Bevis Frond, Broken Social Scene, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Lilys
SLEATER KINNEY The Gossip, David Cross (MC), Spoon, The Boredoms
THE SHINS New Pornographers, The Decemberists, Clinic, Big Business
NB: The Lilys playing are the same band who recorded the awesome 'Nanny in Manhattan', which featured on a Levi's advert a good 7/8 years ago. It still holds the record for the shortest ever top-40 single, clocking in at 1min 57secs. Word.

reckon the second weekend is better than the first then?
I still haven't decided which one to go to...
I know what you mean
I want to go to both weekends!
shit
I suffered the touture of sonic youth's set in 2000, the unbelievable tedium that was the tortoise curated weekend in 2001, 2002 may have been alright for all I know I just sat on a boat in the playground and now it finally gets curated by some bands I like who are picking more bands I like and I know I won't be able to get anyone to go.
the Tortoise one was INCREDIBLE!
silly person.
!
Go to weekend 2.... are we gonna have a dis meet up? i guess no one has really thought about this yet seeing though it's ages away.
really
I just renember sitting in my chalet writing 'fuck you boards of canada, just because your from scotland doesn't mean your good' on condensation on the window and having to wait HOURS for the bus to the station on the way back. Cant renember anybands and just renember being annoyed the black heart procession cancelled.
Lambchop!
Yo La Tengo! El-P! Calexico! Rick Rizzo & Tara Key! Mike Ladd!
hahaha
Love the Lilys facts there.
It only got the number 12 though ;)
OW.
My brain hurts with excitement.
God.
Please let it be now.
*whimper*
!
I like short songs, two minutes is a good mark.
I also like this line-up, and David Cross MC the SK day, should be good.
OH MAN
this just isn't fair. The first weekend looked more promising before all this was announced. bunch o' cunts.
I'm going
And I can't believe how good it is. The creators of my 3 favourite albums of 2005 on the same weekend.
Get in.
The Lilys
I nearly almost very nearly went and put £20 on Nanny In Manhattan getting to number 1 in the pop charts. I was that sure it was a dead cert.
THE BOREDOMS?
YES PLEASE.
god I want to go to this.
SK GOT THE BOREDOMS!!?!?!?!?
OH MY FUCKING GOD.
I AM SHITTING MYSELF OVER THIS.
PLEEEEEEEASE PLAY ANOTHER DATE PLEEEEEEEEEASE
Decemberists
I really hope they will be playing some warm up songs. Sixteen Military Wives is still on repeat on my ipod.
I also hope that more quality bands bands are to be added.
Add the F**king Champs just for pure genius or Melt Banana
im not trying to be controversial
nor nothing, but i really cant see whats so great about that lineup. boredoms are great , but i can live without seeing them again
I agree
Will be hard to top december tbh....
the second weekend in 2004, the sonic youth one was still the best and one of the greatest weekends EVER...VERY closely followed by the shellac one the weekend before...
Quite frankly if you can't have a good time at ATP, no matter what the line up, you might as well give up.
Still, have to say not too bothered about going this year, already got tickets for Primavera as well!
oh
fuck - we were decided to go to weekend 1. Not booked anything though. Argh! I want to go to both :(
*had
decided, rather
Have they predictably sold out yet?
as i rather selfishly want a few seconds to consider going - I like Clinic
song need to be...
shorter than 2 minutes or longer than 5... its this middle ground three-and-a-half shit I can't cope with...
If Only I Had the money
I would go if i had a job, just to see S-k and dead meadow. The rest is great as well though
Shortest Hit Single
The shortest duration of a hit single is 1 min 15 seconds. This record is held by Nukleuz DJs. The title/lead track of their 2003 "DJ Nation - Bootleg Edition" EP was a mix of each of the other six tracks on the EP (available on three separate CD/12" singles) clocking in at just 75 seconds.
In terms of a complete song (ie. not a medley), "Let's Get Together" by Hayley Mills (1961) clocked in at is 1 minute 25 seconds. The US version of "Some Kinda Earthquake", an instrumental single by Duane Eddy, was abridged (1 minute 17 seconds in duration, 1959) but the British version ran at the full 1 min 53 secs.
The shortest chart-topper is Adam Faith's "What Do You Want" from 1959 (1 minute, 38 seconds).
!
There are so many rock and indie tracks I wish I could cut to just 2 minutes...
OMFG
BOREDEOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
