Jack White Collaborates with the Electric 6
Jack White of the White Stripes has teamed up with fellow Detroit band, the Electric 6 to sing backing vocals on their forthcoming single: ‘Danger! High Voltage!’
The Electric 6 denied the involvement with White claiming they had an internet contest for a singer. The backing vocalist is credited as a ‘Mr. John S O’Leary’, which by pure coincidence, is the name that Jack White books under in hotels.
‘Danger! High Voltage!’ is an unusual mix of punk, metal and dance, think Captain Beefheart making a disco record or Kiss doing the soundtrack to ‘Night Fever’.
The single will be released through XL Records on 6 January. The Electric 6 have just completed their debut UK tour and when asked if ‘Mr. O’Leary’ would be joining them onstage they replied: ‘No, he’ll never appear onstage with us. He’s a mechanic in Cleveland.’ Wonder what Jack would have to say about that?
