Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

Weezer, the chart-humping emo superstars, have released for a limited time only, MP3s of their triumphant 12-song set at the Reading leg of the Carling Weekend this year.

Of the performance, only 'Keep Fishin' is absent from the website.

=W= Bootologists will have to hurry though, the MP3s will be down come this Tuesday, which is probably the time estimated by the band before Mean Fiddler come and sue their asses off.

So go, get, now.

And if you miss out. Give me an email. Although obviously I can't distribute illegal material *ahem* no. definitely not.

The set played was:

Undone
Island In The Sun
My Name Is Jonas
Keep Fishin'
Why Bother?
Don't Let Go
Say It Ain't So
Dope Nose
The Good Life
Surf Wax America
Hash Pipe
Buddy Holly

Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

Just wondering how you'd be distributing 'illegal material' when the material was made available for free for all by the band themselves?

Re: Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

ditto...

do you really think they'd have the files available for download if mean fiddler had any objections?!

Re: Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

You mean, like when their own record co. shut down their A/V section because they had demo and works in progress of new album stuff for their last album the one upcoming?

As far as I'm aware, all recordings are the property of Mean Fiddler, being recorded at their venues. I might be wrong, but why are they taking them down by Tuesday?

Re: Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

I'm pretty sure Mean Fiddler wouldn't own the copyright in the live recordings, although I'm not sure who would.

Re: Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

whoever paid for the recording owns it. i think. though with live stuff it's a bit more complex.

they're taking it down by tuesday because that's what they do with all their stuff on the a/v section.

the record label had a fit because the stuff they were posting then was unreleased and (stupidly) they thought people wouldn't buy the finished record if they could download demo mp3s..

anyway, not having a go, just thinking out loud :)

ps, i'd like to know why they've not put Keep Fishing from Reading on there..

Re: Weezer at Reading - Now available to everyone

In theory, the Publishers, who own the songs, own the recordings if their sold or used in a profit making thingy, like an advert or top gear or whatever.

I suspect they've taken them down cus of the cost of bandwidth and why run up huuuge costs when people can file share the stuff and burn cdrs off for friends, etc, etc... speaking of which gareth? hehe.
