Weezer go Rap-Rock
oappleby by Ollie Appleby July 9th, 2002
After Weezer roped in tour support from Fred Durst protégés Cold, resulting in the band quitting early due to 'poor crowd response' Rivers Cuomo continues both his love of and involvement with US arena rap-rock.

This odd direction was followed when he went on a visit to, of all people, Crazy Town's studio last Wednesday to contribute a "guitar solo" on a track for the band's forthcoming album. (according to a Crazy Town spokesperson) Mr Cuomo arrived looking "sophisticated" in a dark suit, green shirt and blue tie, (posted on www.weezer.com to work on the tentatively titled 'Hurt'.

The song is expected to appear on Crazy Town's as-yet-untitled follow-up to 1999's 'The Gift of Game', but you'll all reamember them from their single 'Butterfly' and little else. Their new material is described as "much harder than their last effort" and is sure to be a point of hurt for Weezer fans having to decide over a Rivers guitar solo and putting down cash money for a Crazy Town record...

Weezer started their US 'Enlightenment Tour' at the weekend, but more importantly, they'll be at the Reading and Leeds festivals this August, i wonder if Crazy Town are as well...
