The brilliant Danish group Efterklang have been busy working with French film maker and director Vincent Moon for...a film! Exciting stuff. The footage was shot in August this year on an island in the Danish countryside, hence the title being An Island. We are told the aim was to shoot a piece which would be roughly as long as an album with plenty of musical collaborations and general messing about, OR experimenting.
In the end Efterklang worked with over 200 local musicians, kids, parents on reworking songs from this year's magical Magic Chairs. Here's what the band had to say on the experience:
We were there with our 8-piece live band featuring Niklas Antonson (Slaraffenland), Heather Broderick, Peter Broderick and Frederik Teige. Over an intense period of 4 days we managed to collaborate with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents.
We value An Island as much as we value our albums. We consider it one of the finest projects we have ever been involved in and can’t wait to share it with you.
