M.I.A album gets name, gets release put back, get yourself a track from it
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater May 11th, 2010

We should really be used to M.I.A doing things her own way by now, but then again it's always nice to get a surprise in one form or another from her, I guess. There's a bit of triple-barrelled news this time as the previously unnamed album now has a name, the release date has been put back further and a download has been made available for free. Yipee (via Stereogum and Pitchfork).

Yeah. You can read about the updates on the NEET Recordings blog by clicking here. Or rather, more accurately, you can try and read about the updates on that blog as it's the biggest mess of a website I have ever laid my unfathomably small eyes on. It crashed my browser HARD.

The significant details, though, are: The album is called /\/\/\Y/\. Yes, really. If you look closely enough it spells out MAYA, or Maya, or however you want to render it. Much, much silliness really. The release, according to the website, will now be on 7/13/2010 which, in UK dates, is July 13. Hopefully the day befo'. It was previously schedule for June and great lengths were visited in the publication of the release date.

The track you can get for free is 'XXXO' and it's available to you by visiting this hyperlink.

Just to give you an idea of the chaos contained on the website, we've nicked a screenshot from Stereogum. Totally mentile. I think there's an album tracklisting in there somewhere, too.
