We're big fans of Esben & The Witch here at Drowned in Sound which, I guess, explains why we put them on to celebrate our ninth birthday last year. Totally rad. Anyway, they have the video for their debut single, 'Lucia, At The Precipice' which we are very happy to bring to you.
It's out as a limited edition 7", and is backed by b-side 'They Use Smiles To Bury You'. Unfortunately, the fact that it's a limited edition meant that it sold out very quickly indeed. Talk about demand being greater than supply or some other pseudoeconomic bullcrap.
Listen and watch the atmospheric ambience below. It's a true lesson in dynamics, and how to use them to great effect. More of this, please.
They've also managed to wrangle themselves a few spaces supporting some of the brightest and best bands around at the moment. Impressive. Catch them at these dates and places:
March:
3 – London, Shepherd’s Bush Empire w/ The xx
22 – London, Koko w/ Wild Beasts
April:
21 – London, Shepherd’s Bush Empire w/ Efterklang
May:

8 – Sheffield, Leadmill %
9 – Glasgow, Garage %
11 – Manchester, Academy 2 %

13 – London HMV Forum %

Nice
Managed to get my mitts on a copy of the 7", but only got round to listening to it at the weekend. It's a real slow-burner of a song, like it a lot.
