James Murphy-fronted LCD Soundsystem have announced, in a round-a-bout sort of way, that they've finished work on their new record, which is to be released later this year. This took place via the ever-popular source of news and bitchfights that is Twitter.
The tweet said:
"mixing last song right now to send to the amazing bob weston to master. meaning, record DONE. i hope people like it."
Some minutes later this was followed up by a congratulatory and well-deserved drink, as Murphy proclaimed:
"now drinking."
In September last year Murphy spoke to Mojo about the upcoming record, LCD's third in total and the first since 2007, when Critics' Favourite Sound Of Silver was released. The date on which it will be unleashed remains unconfirmed, but I'd hazard a guess in the region of the next 2-3 months, maybe a little sooner if all goes well.
There was also a second clip of Murphy (who is gradually looking more and more like Adrian Chiles) in the studio, which you can watch - along with the first one - below.

Speaking in the October issue of Mojo, the Murphman said:
"We've been recording in a mansion. It sleeps 10 and there's an amazing pool and it felt pretty amazing. We decided, let's make Los Angeles an imaginary Los Angeles of the soul from 1973. Everyone had to wear white all the time, so it's like some sort of creepy fucking cult and we'd go to parties, 10 people in a mini-van all in white, and we'd have enough of an impact on how Los Angels operated."
"I'm working on a song called 'Why Do You Hate Music?'. Everyone seems to hate music right now, even people who make music. There's a song called 'Love In LA', which has an Eddy Grant, Sly & Robbie feel. I'm doing what I set out to do on Sound of Silver, which is take more chances."
There's also a brief tour of England, for which YACHT will be the support, at these places:
April:
23 - London, Brixton Academy
26 - Birmingham, Academy
27 - Leeds, Academy
May:
1 - Manchester, Academy (University)
2 - Bristol, Academy
