RIP: Be Your Own PET to split after one last hurrah round UK

Nashville oiks Be Your Own PET have announced that they shall split after their forthcoming UK dates.

After four years during which the group released their eponymous debut in 2006 and Get Awkward (review) earlier this year, the Ecstatic Peace/XL act left this brief post on their MySpace:

“To all of our fans,

“We are sad to bring you the news that our upcoming shows in the UK are going to be our last as a band. We thank you for all your love and support these past few years – its [sic] been a blast but the time has come for the 4 of us to go our separate ways.”

No specific reason was given for the split, however all members are expected to pursue other projects with Jonas Stein and John Eatherly already involved in Turbo Fruits together, whilst bassist Nathan Vasquez is part of Deluxin.

Fancy catching one of their last performances? The quartet play these dates before they call it a day:

August
22 Reading Reading Festival
23 Leeds Leeds Festival
25 Liverpool Carling Academy 2
26 London Dingwalls

Good.

Bands like this should never exist for more than one album.

It's not good at all!

But your point is valid. Live fast/die young and all that.

Where could they have gone?

Its like DFA. One album is enough.

I'm upset

Seems lots of bands I like are spliting this year. Help She Can't Swim, Cutting Pink With Knives, Mother & The Addicts. Bye bye all you fun party time bands.

yeah, but

at the end of the day they're just a one album band

uhh

because he thinks they both had limited potential beyond their first album?

lol

this band were wizard

but its defs a case of living fast before you fade away.

They might have

split but Jemina Pearl is still a total ride.

do you think

i could get with jemina?

good fucking riddance

apart from having a moderately fit singer they had nothing else going for them...
