Returning after a brief break following the release of This Is My Ship (review) last year, Teesside trio Dartz! step back to the fold with the their politely-sized new mini-album, The Sad History Of The Village Of Alnerique, out on Xtra Mile Recordings on September 22.
Speaking about the release, guitarist Henry J. Carden said thus:
“For all of our old songs, the writing process basically consisted of us working on the music first and then once that was sorted, we’d work on the lyrics. For this release though, Philip had written some words and we thought it’d be interesting to try and write some music which suited the lyrics. It was a different approach for us but I think it’s resulted in The Sad History Of… being a much more cohesive collection of songs than any of our past releases.”
Recorded in an derelict warehouse in the glamorous Stockton-On-Tees, the closing track, ‘The End, Moving On’, will be available to download for free from the Xtra Mile site for 24 hours from 0000GMT 01/09/2008.The Sad History Of The Village Of Alnerique runs:
