DOOMED! Los Campesinos! announce second record to come out this year

Only six months on from the release of Hold On Now, Youngster... (review), twee-pop connoisseurs Los Campesinos! have announced that album #2 will be out before the end of the year.
Released on Wichita on October 13, the ominously titled We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed was recorded in June with producer John Goodmanson, formerly of Blonde Redhead, Bikini Kill and Wu Tang Clan production renown.
Posting on the band's website, the act made it clear to haters that "despite Hold On Now, Youngster... being only 5 or so months old, we wanted to emphasise that this is no post-album cash in.
"It's no B-Sides and rarities or "songs that weren't good enough to be on the album cobbled together with some remixes and field recordings of Cardiff's indie scene"; it's ten all-new tracks that none of you have ever heard before.
"Sure, we considered re-releasing a radio-edit of 'You! Me! Dancing!' and trying to get famous and scraping another tour out of that, but our parents unanimously agreed that if we did they would never speak to us again.
"Rather, we are blessed with having an incredibly supportive record label in Wichita, and they are as excited about such freedom, frivolities and spontaneity in releases as we are."
We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed's tracklist:
'Ways To Make It Through The Wall'
'Miserabilia'
'We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed'
'Between An Erupting Earth And An Exploding Sky'
'You'll Need Those Fingers For Crossing '
'It's Never That Easy Though, Is It? (Song For The Other Kurt)'
'The End Of The Asterisk '
'Documented Minor Emotional Breakdown # 1'
'Heart Swells/Pacific Daylight Time'
'All Your Kayfabe Friends'
Though the act's only UK dates inked in at the moment are their upcoming festival performances, the post adds:
"News to come shortly on a tour featuring the best line-up to grace these (UK) shores since the NME one with Andrew WK!"

The Two Weeks That Was: a fortnight with the new DiS
Yaaaaay!
This is so wonderful! And (if it's just as good as their debut) they might be one of the first bands ever to release 2 brilliant records in 10 months time! \o/
I wonder if
they will play any of the new songs at the Day At The Races fest tomorrow...
I so hope the production
is better than on 'Hold on...'
Many bands from 60s
disagree with you
Holy shit!
This is awesome!
can I be the first to say
meh!
:)
Yes!
Maybe they'll actually do a scottish date outside of Glasgow on this next tour!
Oh
sweet!
ive just pooed myself
this is brilliant news
Only UK dates?
There are playing Standon Calling in Hertfordshire this Sunday (well I hope they are...)
Haha yeah
I though so already. But I didn't live back then, so I don't know ^^
I am
OBSCENELY excited about this
...and they are playing Greenman
I thought that DiS was associated with that festival.
They played Edinburgh
last year. last time i looked that wasn't in Glasgow.
John Goodmanson
produced Sleater-Kinney. Everything else is unimportant.
also
did a blood brothers record or two if i'm not mistaken
Really looking forward to this
The first one, while not perfect, was very enjoyable
This is good news,
made my day!
it is
just don't let edinburgh know, okay?
Yes
Yes you can
i sometimes think
they are a bit naff, but then other times i hear a song and think this is cheering me up no end.
then i saw them the other week, and realised the girl has a very irritating 'nasally' vocal and that there riffs are always very similar.
but then they also seem like really genuine nice people so i feel bad for thinking these negative thoughts.
it's an endless battle.
I really want
to like the last album but i just find most of it quite annoying- some good bits though fo' sure.
That is
The best news I've had all day. And I've had a good day... I worry myself with how much I like their first album.
i hope
the vocals are less annoying on this album
:D :D :D
^
Don't like the band
But am impressed by this and their attitude. Fair play.
^ this
sums up exactly how I feel.
:D
yay
'All Your Kayfabe Friends'
might just be the song title of the year
wahaaay!
a bit suprising really, i hope it's as good as the debut
wasn't it
andrew wk/interpol/brmc/the coral? back in 2001.
quite a party
yeah
It was in 2002
I was there
Bristol Anson Rooms
Awk was by far the best thing ever.
I think the tour
could well be with Times New Viking and No Age from what i've heard.
OMG
I may get to see New Age live. FUCK ME!
In other news... I am excited by the tour x1000!
ok, here's what I mean:
I want them to play in Aberdeen or Inverness. Hell, even Dundee would do, anywhere I don't have to travel over 4 hours to get to.
Brilliant
Really looking forward to it!
to which I add...
Los Camp! need to re-issue their Monster Tshirt, in blue, in large...
(well perhaps not "need", but I'd defo buy one)
yey
the blue monster shirt is amazing isnt it!my friend and i went to clwb ifor bach for a los campesinos! night there, when the album came out, they gave away posters, badges etc etc, we had matching (he had the yellow and blue shirt, me vice versa) tshirts. sadly no one else seemed to care as much as us!good news about another album though!
If so that would be immense
Pretty much my three favourite bands at the moment.
Also, that 'Between An Erupting Earth And An Exploding Sky' song title is too good!
:)
I still haven't got round to buying the first one though.
This makes me so angry
do people ACTUALLY think people can travel all the way from the north of scotland to go to a gig in glasgow? I mean, really?? Why are reasonably sized cities such as Inverness and Aberdeen deprived of touring bands???
Im very excited
but I think they have a lot to prove with this album. Because as someone pointed out, the guitar riffs are all very similar, so I think they'll have to have progressed in order to keep people interested, and I'm not really sure that they've had time to progress.
yeah man
John Goodmanson produced it, and he is bigger than jesus
