St Albans trio Friendly Fires - DiScovered here - have announced their self-titled debut album will be released on September 1.
Okay, they didn't announce anything - their label, XL, did. Of the album, the three-piece says:
“These 37 minutes of music is the end product of two years’ inspiration, frustration, toil and passion. We set out to merge heartfelt, romantic songwriting with our love of the dancefloor and blissful shoegaze guitars.”
Expect nods to German techno label Kompakt, drums that tickle like Liquid Liquid and drone right out of the MBV songbook. And that single...

"These 37 minutes of music is the end product of two years’ inspiration, frustration, toil and passion."
37 minutes.
poor show.
is a good album length.
anything that fits on one side of a C90 = good.
yeah no i don't
dispute the length. some of my favourite albums are on the shorter rather than longer side.
i just thought 2 years on that sounds rather excessive.
me too
one of my tips for 2008 don't you know
great news!
Hopefully there'll be a tour this fall?
