UPDATED: Franz Ferdinand to play intimate UK shows ahead of new album
- Artists:
- Franz Ferdinand »
Those free-wheelin’, afro-beatin’, arm-flailin’ types Franz Ferdinand have a new record due out in October. We missed this, probably because we were too busy getting down to the new beat to bother the old, but no doubt Kapranos and co. will return with something to put bullets in our meth-ridden ankle bones.
Anyway – what better way to warn us than to put some sweat in our socks at the following live shows, running up to festival appearances at Connect, Latitude, Electric Picnic and Melt!. DrownedinSound has just found out - thanks, Pitchfork - that these include 'secret' gigs in London and Hull. Those with the rest, below:
June
9 London The Macbeth
21 York Fibbers - 01904 651 250
22 Hull Adelphi - 01482 348 216
24 Bristol Thekla - 0117 929 3301
25 Bath Moles - 01225 404 445
26 Yeovil The Orange Box - 0845 873 8299
28 Cardiff The Point - 02920 460 873
29 Leeds Faversham - 0113 243 3993
New songs – tracks with names like 'Lucid Dreams', 'Ulysses', 'Dream Again', 'Turn It On', 'A Severed Head' and 'Katharine Kiss Me' currently being forged in the depths of Govan with Dan Carey (Hot Chip, Lily Allen) – will be previewed, the press release claims. Tickets cost £15 and will be available from the venue box offices from 9am tomorrow morning, (Fri 6 Jun).

I don't even like the band, but that would be awesome!
It can't be right that I'm missing some awesome gigs
because of Glastonbury.
Don't worry
See that gap on the 27th....
Cardiff!
I really like Franz Ferdinand

I can't decide between thekla and moles! If I could get to Cardiff I would see them at the point <3 I love the point.

FRANZ FERDINAND
Thekla Bristol
Tickets £15 advance ONLY available from the FF website from 9am tomorrow and from the THEKLA tomorrow at midday. Strictly only 2 tickets per person.
I'm going to try and get them online but I imagine they will sell out realllllly fast.
i so wish i could go :(
have a good time, all who are lucky enough to be attending
I want Bristol tickets
very badly indeed. It's the day before going to Glastonbury.
I don't hold out much hope.
Bah
There's no evidence of the website opening for business at 9am as had been suggested... and I've got a meeting now.
Oh well, that's "getting ready for Glasto" night and this would have gotten in the way. Although I wanted it to get in the way!
yeah
that was a big fat lie. i spent ages refreshing and then discovered tickets were up on seetickets/aloud etc but even then still no sign of bristol or bath. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
The FF website hasn't been updated in 10 months
Since I quit. Don't expect anything to happen in the next 24 hours.
Also, Turn It On is not new at all
Was dropped from the 2nd album, previously called "Radio". Catchy as fuck.
For Bath tickets
You've got to go to the Porter Bar today. It's only Bristol where I saw talk of online tickets.
Franz who?
they've lost their momentum
macbeth gig went on sale
5 hours before this article :'(
Yeovil and Cardiff on sale now
through See Tickets.
But I can't make those.
It's a real shame Xenomania are no longer involved with this new record
...what a missed opportunity!
Cardiff and Yeovil still available
What's wrong with you all?
