DiS @ Concrete and Glass: early details of new London showcase
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly April 29th, 2008

First announced here in November, the first ever Concrete and Glass showcase will roll out across Shoreditch and its environs this autumn, aided and abetted by DrownedinSound.

Taking place on the 2nd and 3rd of October, stages at the event will also be co-hosted by John Kennedy (AKA the only decent thing left on Xfm), Time Out, 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, The Stool Pigeon, Young Turks and Rough Trade Records.

Making use of the array of venues in east London, Concrete and Glass will spread musical acts across 17 venues, all of which are within nine minutes’ walk of base camp at Rough Trade East.

Venues confirmed so far:

Hoxton Bar & Grill
Rough Trade East
93ft East
Cargo
The Griffin
Tea Building
Favella Chic
Catch
The Legion
The Strongroom
Café 1001
The Macbeth
Zigfrid
The Old Blue Last
Electricity Showrooms
Plastic People
Whitechapel Art Gallery

If there’s another thing there’s plenty of in Shoreditch – apart from thin people and Red Stripe – it’s art spaces and an art-centric strand of Concrete and Glass will be produced by Flora Fairbairn Projects.

More details coming soon…
