New album? The Strokes are showing signs of life

Wake up, everyone! The Strokes seem to be planning a new album.
Bassist Nikolai Fraiture revealed as much in a post on the band’s official website [source: thestrokes.com>the band>Nikolai], stating: “I’d like to say that I’m still looking very forward to a fourth album release. We just need to work out a few technical kinks.
“It’s been a long break but much needed for us to remain together as a productive band.”
He also goes on to state that “in order to not go completely insane during this extended break, I’ve been working on some music, including some covers, which I will be posting soon”.
Reclining into non-musical areas, as DiS is wont to do, Fraiture has starred in and composed the music for a film shot with an old college friend. Entitled A Kind of Dream, the black and white short focuses on a couple of Arthur Rimbaud poems, (‘Ma Boheme (Fantasie)’ and ‘Reve pour l’hiver’), and can be obtained here for $9.99.
All proceeds go to the Bowery Mission and Fraiture is selling the shoes he wore in the short to raise money for landmine victims. Find a preview of A Kind of Dream below:

Fuck off Strokes...
...if you lot inflict another album as shit as Last Impoossions of Earth then don't bother you bunch of Kings of Leon wannabes.
I changes Impressions to Impoosions cos the album was poo. See what I did there. Funny man - that's me!
Yeah.
...wearing the shoes he wore for the short...
....
....
<rofl>
First impressions wasn't *that* bad, couple of good songs and I'm happy, and interested to see what they come back with...
They've probably lost it now I think.
Thanks to basically the masses of wanker critics who seem to think your second album should be NOTHING EVER EVEN LIKE YOUR FIRST ONE.
Hopefully the wanker critics
will have persuaded them to write a full album this time, not just half of one.
No more 'God is a coconut' nonsense this time, Strokes.
is that penultimate paragraph
supposed to sound like it's written by an illiterate foreigner and i'm just missing the joke?
there's no joke
read it again..?
The Strokes
were untouchable to me thanks to their opening duo of records.
Sadly, First Impressions of Earth was a substantial disappointment - and if this fourth outing neseccitates an enhanced diversion towards standard rock, they are all but floundering.
A good half
of First Impressions was great I thought, particularly Fear Of Sleep which might be my favourite Strokes song for some reason.
well i like all of their albums
they aren't ground breaking and perhaps they were over rated a bit to begin with, but i still think they've produced consistantly good music
They should
have just knocked it on the head after "Is This It" if you ask me.
Really nice
solo song from Nikolai there, quite rustic French and Matt Elliot. Was kind of waiting for it to veer away from sounding like an intro and kick into something more full though, maybe with vocals too.
Same here
I was a little bit of a Strokes fan then I adored that album and became a mega-nut.
Hmm...
...without them the nu-metallers and nu-acoustic (bah!) acts would be ruling music.
They came in like a 5-headed Travis Bickle and washed away the scum, opening the floodgates for countless other bands to get through. Yes, maybe their other albums are as affecting or important as 'Is This It' but then very very few have been since Nevermind.
As for that Kings of Leon comment, you are so far off the mark it's laughable.
Without the Strokes breaking through back in the day KOL wouldn't be playing arenas nowadays.
^^^*edit*^^^
I meant *aren't as affecting ot important
Plus,
Mongolian, you have Counting Crows as a 10?
I do not value you opinion an anything.
Bullshit
first impressions is their best album.
A Nikolai Fraiture solo score?
I just keep imagining the same two note bass run, played at a different tempo according to scene. Fast for car chase sequences, slower during romantic encounters, really slow then suddenly fast in a stalk followed by stabbing scene.
