Second Chance Sunday: appraising the overlooked
Meh...
is my natural reaction to this line up!
Last years was a really good mix of old and new and upcoming. Pity cos last year was brilliant, not sure I am gonna get tickets for this year!
The Levellers
Grinderman
Camera Obscura
Sounds alright.
Its alright, I guess.
Electric Picnic looks a lot better though, I'd hoped for more of their bill since its over the same weekend.
HURRRRR!!
HURRRRR!!!! THEY'RE BACK! HURRRRR!
:D
nice one Kev.
Is it me
or are there about 10 times more festivals than, say, 5 years ago? I know this isn't a new or orignal observation, but when I see news on the line-up for ANOTHER festival it gets quite bewildering trying to keep up with them all. There's as many festivals now as there used to be mortgage options and we know what happened there don't we........
Well, this year
DF don't have to compete with Indian Summer so they'll put on the same boring old bands they want and people who think they're too 'indie' and 'cool' for TITP will still lap it up like the DF-kissing mothers that they are. Sadness, DF. Sadness all round.
this happened before.
i can't remember exactly when but there was a massive boom some years back and inevitably a whole bunch of these festivals just disappeared into nothing. Phoenix Festival, anyone? Whether that'll happen this time remains to be seen - festivals are very trendy and acceptable nowadays...
THE LEVELLERS???
the fucking levellers? I initially missed that as I was weeping over the rest of the bill.
I'm afraid beautiful countryside does not make up for this even slightly.
The difference being that Phoenix was good
......if Phoenix 1994 were to occur this year, it would still be the event of the summer by a long margin.
You're missing the point!
It might be the same as many other festivals according to line-up but its' USP is the beautiful location. It's something that a lot of you jaded London types could probably do with visiting.
I would certainly rather see Sigur Ros set close to the glorious environs of Inveraray Castle rather than a grim field in Slough or Reading.
I went to Phoenix 1996 and 1997
and had the most amazing time both years. It had the Reading Festival layout inside the site - but twice the length - and that "additional" half had another three stages. Then off site was a village with various bits to do - and another stage. All for the same price as Reading. And the sun blazed both years. And the size of the airfield meant tons of camping room for all.
Phoenix absolutely ruled.
shit line up
Geoff Ellis = Cunt
I feel like someone has just told me there's no santa
Well....
I'm gonna see sigur ross in suffolk, on the henham park estate... along with loads of good bands. sucks to be you.
went to connect last year - inventive line up, lovely festival.... this year.... boring.
sigur ros
damn dyslexia... or something
no no, i know phoenix was great fun!
always hot. neil young. etc. it was just an example of a casualty which inevitably occurs when the market gets crowded.
What a shit line up.
Gutted!
It was such a lovely festival last year too.
Bands like Kasabian and The Coral will attract all the scummy riff-raff that normally decent upon TitP.
Fuck you Geoff Ellis, fuck you.
aye
terrible line-up, real disappointment. SORT IT OUT GEOFFREY
TIP's shit too
