No Belfast?
BOO-URNS!
well fuck me
i didnt expect them to play in hull :)
Its 30 pounds
for a ticket to see them in Tokyo.
Good
:D
Yannis
looks like Adam Buxton as Louise from the Adam & Joe Show in that picture.
Album was
number 3 on the midweeks
I'm fairly sure they have second night at Brixton lined up too
....
Where is Leeds Academy? Or have they just re-badged an exisiting venue?
brixton academy??
that's a bit big, innit?
they're number 3 in the midweeks
it's pretty understandable. fucking ridiculous, but understandable.
not bad ridiculous
just 'jesus christ' ridiculous.
Did you not go last time?
They played Spring and Airbrake like 3 weeks agoish. W/delays and the subways. And free jack daniels. Was pretty ace :P
Exactly
what I was thinking? Trust it to get an Academy after I move away...
No competition
this week really. Plus they are soooo hip and cool, and on a major label giving it a massive push.
I don't think they suit big venues.
October??? It's March.
MARCH.
jesus christ
is well ridiculous.
I don't get it.
I don't get them. I don't like them. Am I getting too old, or is pop getting too shit?
Is this a joke?
Transgressive are a major label?
Backlash ?
On DiS ?
Naaaahhhhh...
Ruined
I like Foals, but the amount of scenesters and band wagon jumpers that would be at each venue makes me really not fancy going.
yeah
transgressive are fucking major. i mean like, i've never heard of warners or emi but transgressive? yeah they're totally major. major.
...
why are they inviting a backlash just by announcing a tour? I reckon they'll end up being three nights at Brixton academy.
Owned by Warner.
or they have a controlling stake or something like that. They wouldn't get played on daytime Radio 1 otherwise!
I don't understand
the "now in March" bit: reads as if the band are in a different month to the rest of us, no?!?
They might as well be
as without the help of Warner, their artists wouldn't be getting the hype, attention, press and radio play. Most indie labels have some influence from a major label, aprt from the really small ones and Rough Trade and Warp.
No way will they do three nights
That'd be more dates than Tool or Beastie Boys ffs.
It'll be insane enough as it is if they do two nights, I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if they sell out one.
Pop is always shit unless you are 13
I'm surprised by how much they've taken off, they're alright but not wonderful. But these guys playing a tour this big is better than it being the Enemy or pidgeon detectives or such like.
they will be
if you read this article in April. I'm pretty confident the publishing of this article means they are now stuck in March until someone says they can leave. Bit like your 'The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar' but with more fringes and brass involved.
That Fucking Tank
Are supposed to be supporting too aren't they? That would be pretty swish.
I had tickets for that,
but had to pull out at the last minute :(
i agree
klaxons did two nights, i cannot see foals doing three.
^ This
Nail. Head.
Bravo that man.
Aberdeen Music Hall!?
Seriously!?
I mean, it'll be great, and I'll definetely go as it's on a saturday, but still...
Thats
the biggest pile of shite I've ever read on this website there balck rooster. The headline anyway.
that fucking tank supporting?
that's well funny.
t&c
I loved that venue BITD, I thought it was now a dodgy nightclub. Good news.
aylesbury civic centre
is a BIG deal indeed
I'm just making the point that
most people will always remember that things that are popular were better 'back in the day' usually remembering things being good that many other people especially older than you would call rubbish.
I'm not saying that it necessarily is, but in general most people will think of stuff being in the charts as not being as good as when they were younger. Goes in the same argument box as 'kids today have no respect'.
two nights,
at brixton, ennit.
NO WAY!
REALLY!? Best/funniest news EVER!
moleman
I was saying boo-urns
Might go to Southampton
Still haven't seen them live...kinda missed the boat on this one.
they should be the typical dis band
in that they have a vaguely "experimental" sound which incorporates both math rock and post punk, and in that they dont really have any songs to speak of. see also: minus the bear
but seriously, i like the noises they make, so someone write them some songs to put them in. they make bloc party look like a goddamn hit machine
He looks like The Fonz
all the time.
Are they playing all the stadiums
to milk their fame right now to the max, because they fear soon they will be forgotten/backlashed? (ie not just on DiS)
I like them. I hope it is this reason, and that they are trying to play the industry, and that they have ace, new musical projects lined up after this band, which apparently started as a 'joke', has got them noticed on a national scale.
the real deal
is that Transgressive have a sweet deal going with Warner, and get to promote their artists on a larger scale, without sacrificing anything of the label.
They are still just an indie label - just now they also get VIP tickets to glasto...
Are you going?
I arrive two days afterwards. I probably would have gone as well.
Foals were not started as a joke.
What a silly thing to write.
It's like no other place in Wales exists apart from Cardiff,
I mean what about Swansea? Not that I'm bothered about seeing Foals, just a point in general about bands going on tour.
Bandwagon jumpers?
You mean people who have only recently heard them, like them, and want to see them? Don't be such a pretentious wank.
i've still not heard anything by Foals
that's honestly true, too
I Can
remember saying after I had seen Foals a few times a few years ago that they were amazing, but they'll go nowhere, no one will like them and they will probably disappear real soon.
This is fucking weird. Brixton Academy? Say what?
pop is great at the moment
it's just foals are shit
remember
when DISers were saying how good foals were?
what changed?
x
nowt here
they really are good!
same
I like them, album was a bit dissapointing, but they are dead fun live.
Dunno if it'll work very well in a huge arena though?
Actually, this is what Yannis said when I interviewed him.
Perhaps 'joke' is too a strong word to use, but it is the one he used. More of a reaction to 'math rock'.
A few bands have been
paying Swansea lately. When I went to see Young Knives in Sin City I had to catch a 3:35am bus home . . NICE!
not quite...
adele, jack penate, franz ferdinand, the futureheads, arctic monkeys, vampire weekend...are on independent labels...and get on daytime radio 1
so it's got nothing to do with being on a major. futureheads are even on their own label and they got A listed on radio 1.
and yeh warners fund transgressive from what i understand - but they don't own it.
