Radiohead to Glastonbury: 'no public transport, no show'

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who is the frontman of Radiohead, has revealed how Radiohead didn’t play this year’s Glastonbury festival due to the absence of a local transport infrastructure around the Glastonbury site in Glastonbury.
Rock ‘n’ roll!
Speaking to the Sun after the launch of the Big Ask Europe campaign yesterday (details), Yorke said that his band were “trying to… only play in areas that have a public transport infrastructure in place.
“So that rules out Glastonbury for this year,” he continued. “Maybe we can work out a plan for the future. They’re probably sick of the sight of us anyway.”
So – no buses, no headline show? That would seem to be the message to Glastonbury council and festival organiser Michael Eavis.

I'm
green! daboodee daboodye daboodee daboodye etc.
I had a dream last night
that I went to see Radiohead in Manchester. I didn't have a ticket, but once the show started a tout gave me a freebie. I got inside the venue and sat down near the back. It was a tiny long and thin theatre and Radiohead were dressed in Dickensian costumes whilst playing versions of their songs using lutes and harpsicords and the like.
How queer.
"Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who is the frontman of Radiohead"
You do make me giggle sometimes.
I thought this article
...was going to be them apologising for missing the bus or something.
Or planning to miss the bus "didn’t play this year’s Glastonbury" - is it July already??
Maybe...
his car got stuck in the mud last year as well. T'was all very annoying.
So would Radiohead
and all their equipment travel to glastonbury on public transport if it was in place?
I doubt it...
I have admit...
..I just cannot get Thommys point here.
I mean their ARE buses too and from the Glasto site - what does he want, a fucking railroad in there??
Also, most people who drive down to Glasto do pack out their cars in order to save money on transport.
Please, am I missing something here??
He needs to work on that slogan
It's nowhere near as good as 'no Moet, no show-ey'
I had a dream the night after their intimate gig
that they played one in the sheep market in my village. At the end of it Thom and Colin took my phone and passed it round the crowd.
When I woke up I was very depressed.
I'm with him
Having grown up in the area there is a real lack of public transport. The nearest train station is in castle cary and thats only because the track runs through there between Taunton and bath. Central somerset has almost no train stations, buses finish at around 10, so people pretty much HAVE to drive. As a result I was never able to go to gigs in Bristol or have any real social life with any of my school friends.
But there are buses
to and from the site during festie time, yes?
I don't get what they are trying to achieve by this!
Good on them.
Down with Eavis, down with Glastonbury.
I am sick of that festival, and I am sick of Eavis and his bullshit, quote from last years festival site newspaper.
"I think that this is the best year ever"!
How do you work that out Eavis?? I have been about 10 times, I went the year it flooded and lost all my belongings, and I still had a better time than I did last year.
Glastonbury sucks.
i think he's on about the rest of the year
ie trying to get public transport in places they don't have it.
haha
(Y)
thom yorke
idiot. plan for the future? like building a fucking big railroad through all the nice pretty countryside in the west country.
go away.
Two bus stops RIGHT outside my front door
Play The Firs. Thanks. I'll even have some fair trade coffee on the brew.
Well...
..this is a fucking lame ass way of making a point for that.
crazy....
"a tout gave me a freebie"...dreams can be pretty twisted sometimes
How do you mean?
I was talking about 07, and how shit it was.
the point of Glasto
is that it is not on the London Underground
or underneath a motorway interchange
Thom = Arse
Still, gotta have principles. I mean, you just wouldnae play that place a 4th time, right?
Unless it is HUMOUR. I know Thom and humour don't always ee eye to eye. A'ight?
*see*
it is annoying you cant edit your posts on here
