WIN! Vampire Weekend tickets + album changes, single news

There’s a few pieces of Vampire Weekend news to report before I skip off home like those carefree afro-skifflers; the band putting out a new single, changing album details around and giving away tickets.

In order – that new single is ‘A Punk’ and it’ll be out through XL early in March. Their self-titled debut LP will arrive on the 28th of January, pulled into line with the US release.

Other than that, there’s a show at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen in London two weeks today (17 Jan). We’ve got a pair of tickets to giveaway, if you’d like them. Just answer this simple question…

If you could spend a day in the company of Ezra Koenig and his friends, where’d be the first place you’d take them?

Leave your answers below for the world to see.

Oxford

We'll go and see a who gives a f*** about the comma. Then go and stock them up on some preppy clothes. Two birds with one stone.

I'd take them to The London Dungeons

Watch them shit their pants in the scary bit (one will almost certainly faint), then leave without them.

I'd take them to Transylvania

For the weekend. A VAMPIRE WEEKEND.

grr!

is was going to say that.... instead i'll take them to an internet cafe pay, for half an hour, find the website that creates random band names and then make them pick one better than vampire weekend, which - although there music is pretty aceo - is a thoroughly shite name

The British Museaum

It has that lovely african bit with masks and stuff.

Oh wait

I can't go. Lol.

Koenig Books.

I would take Erza and his friends to Koenig Books on Charing Cross Road. But since I DNO how many friends he is bringing, we might not all fit into his bookshop. so instead we'd probably just go along the avenue to funland and have a really great time killin' all the zombies in house of the dead 4, which, whilst not being vampires exactly, is kind of close.

i'd show him around the wonderful town of cherry hill, new jersey.

or better yet, philadelphia.

not west philly though, that place is fucking scary.

I'd take them to New Canaan, Connecticut

to meet Paul Simon. They'd have a lot to talk about.

my friend's house

he built his own mansard roof. they could chat construction.

dammit someone beat me

to the paul simon link.

Take them

to Edwyn Collins house so he can smack the shit out of them for being a complete orange juice rip off.

if i had their company for the day

i'd firstly take them to a car/bus/train station in order to take them somewhere!

that is a serious entry fyi x

Longstanton Spice Museum

However if this hypothetical trip is on a weekend then i'll need to rethink my answer.

well there are two options really:

either say a 'random' or slightly witty place to take them. or some really cool place, that no one else knows about and it makes me sound like i'm hott.
i'd rather not say either and just hope i win by default.

Brighton

Simply because I think that it could be the start of a beautiful loving relationship between VW and London-by-the-sea which will be kept alive by their hopefully numerous future tours which visit the UK. Failing that, maybe to the Tate Modern to find the portrait of William Blake, paint a goofy smiley face in a banksy style, then stand around and chant 'Blake's got a new face'
