Rufus Wainwright putting out his Judy Garland record

Earlier this year, Rufus Wainwright re-created some concerts Judy Garland played in New York in the 1960s. Now he's releasing them on both CD and DVD formats.

Out on the 3rd of December, the CD - Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall - and the rather more gladly-titled DVD - Rufus! Rufus! Rufus! Does Judy! Judy! Judy! Live at the London Palladium - preview Wainwright's summer shows.

Track details are yet to be confirmed, but anyone interested can sample Rufus's delights on his current UK tour - click.

What a pile of wank

RW in general?

the judy garland section of his glastonbury show was cringeworthy. it went on too long and i thought it was embarrassing.

mind you, RW can write great songs. especially the ones he does with his sister.

the whole dance routine thing at glasto was cringeworthy

even more so when it fucked up and they did it all over again because bbc where filming it....pathetic. Plus-the great thing about those shows he was celebrating was that the dancers could dance- not like the members of his band who looked like grinning school kids.....pathetic. him and his sister are ALMOST the worst thing about that leonard cohen film- but then Bono and Edge where always going to top the chart there....

Good to see

that Rufus is clearing striving to shatter gay stereotypes by producing such an album.

I too rate him very highly but yeah the JG bit at Glasto was not proper bo.

I love Rufus

dearly, but seriously, I couldn't give two tugs of a dead dog's cock for his Judy Garland fixation. Yes, The Wizard of Oz is great. Yes, he's made some great references to it in his songs. No, I don't need a fucking Garland tribute album.

not at all

just this whole garland obsession.

but why?

wowza RW needs to give the whole JG trip up man. i heard he was working with the excellent scarlet street resistance....any one know any more?

Excellent!

I knew about the DVD, but the cd is news to me. I missed out on the live thing in London, so this is excellent news!

Time to move on

I idolize RW - i think he's the best singer/songwriter of the last 15 years but he needs to move on from this Judy trip. I went to the Paladium and it was a fantastic night and respect to Rufus for doing it - you can't say he didn't work hard, he really did a top job BUT he needs to stick to what he does best - writing and performing his own amazing stuff.

What we have here is the heir to the throne of Gershwin, Irwin Berlin, Randy Newman, Jeff Buckley and Brian Wilson but if he's not careful he'll end up as the new Danny LaRue!!!!!

'not proper bo'

ha ha ha ha...
